The food here is amazing. The price is high; around $20-30 for an entree, but the serving sizes are also very big. The pork chops (medium rare) were tender and juicy, cooked to perfection. The interior is very clean and modern, with a semi/casual formal dining feeling. Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in American/Mediterranean food.
We tried out the blue door on a recommendation from a friend. The wait time was fairly short no more than five minutes. The decor is really nice and really classy, really upscale looking although you don’t need a shirt and tie or evening gown to enter. We ordered the grilled octopus for an appetizer and it was super delicious. For drinks we had their house drink called a blue drop which is basically infused blueberry vodka and fresh blueberries, it was delicious we had a few more. We ordered the grilled salmon and shrimp and scallops, they were both amazing. As someone who goes to a lot of seafood restaurants I could say that this Greek style Mediterranean restaurant does not disappoint when it comes to their grilled salmon. I definitely recommend it.
Food was ok, but in general, felt rushed. The appetizer came out immediately (well ahead of our drinks), and it was never cleared away before the entrees arrived. In and out in less than an hour. Not relaxing. And the lighting felt too bright as well. The higher price tags on the food not justified by the experience.
Order the clams, spinach filo, Mediterranean flat bread,and skip the vegan burger (it is bland, falls apart immediately, has a pastey texture). The restaurant ambience is lovely, you can certainly go here on a date.
The menu is large, with seafood, pork and chicken entrées. The wine and drinks list is large. They also have a great bar area.
Service is prompt, and attentive.
This review is for their happy hour. Cute place and wasn't crowded for a Friday happy hour (3-6pm). We ordered lamb sliders (only two on a plate but good), Brussels sprouts (also good), brushetta trio (blend), fries (some where soggy, rest were good), and their fresh margarita (good, not too sweet and with plenty of salt on the rim). So half were a bit and the other half a miss. I think as long as you know what to order, this is a good place to grab a light bite and a good drink.
The decor is clean, hip, modern. The background music didn't match the interior. A little too teen-pop. Otherwise, we had a nice meal. We shared the Spanakopita as an appetizer. It was flaky goodness. I had the organic beet salad with chicken, it was good. My husband had the curry mac 'n cheese- WOW! Perfect blend of cheese, aromatic curry spice and chicken. Had a little kick, but the burn wasn't lasting. Truly tasty. We also had the hot in pear-a-dise drink- super tasty with nice presentation. They also have a spacious outdoor area, great for happy hour!
Blue Door Restaurant is a restaurant that is handicapped by its food and lack of waiters. With a reservation of a party of three, we had to wait about 15 minutes before being seated. Although the decor in the building was nice and modern, our booth was still dirty, and there were remnants of food on the benches. We appreciated the live music and the free wifi. The waitress that served us wasn’t friendly, and did not check on us frequently during our visit. She also forgot to give us our complimentary bread as well as give me a steak knife, both of which we had to request by ourselves.
The free bread was accompanied by presto sauce, which was not fresh. The 14 oz Prime Rib that I ordered had a bad temperature. It was cooked rare when I wanted it medium. After telling the waitress, who did not apologize, the meat was reheated in the kitchen. However, the temperature was still medium rare, but by this point I just gave up and tried to eat the Prime Rib. About 80% of what I got was fat (see attached picture), and the cut was not impressive.
I do not plan on returning to Blue Door Restaurant again. If you do want some Mediterranean food, I would recommend Dish and Dash in Cupertino, CA.
Our 2nd visit to this establishment. First time was for dinner and this time we tried lunch. I really like the restaurant decor. It's very clean and contemporary. I like the idea that lunch and dinner is different , with very different items between the 2 meal time.
At lunch they have a pasta dish call Curry Chicken Mac. Ok I will admit I was very hesitant. But our server Wyatt highly recommended this dish. Well Mr. Wyatt, I like to say Thank you. It was delicious. At dinner I tried their Mediterranean Brazino (sea bass) and my husband had Short Rib Palermo. Both worth trying. I heard they have entertainment Friday thru Sunday. Try it out. You will be pleasantly surprise.
