Stopped in to try some goodies. The lady who helped us asked if we wanted lunch first and we declined. We ordered a couple fudge brownies, a peanut butter brownie, a cinnamon roll, a sprinkle donut, and a coffee cake muffin. Our kids all chose something and they certainly enjoyed their treats! I got the brownie and peanut butter brownie, and both were delicious. My husband got the muffin and thought it was very good as well. We’ll be back for sure and service was nice. It was a bit dark inside, only relying on the lights from the windows, I would have more indoor lighting for ambiance. We ended up taking our goodies to go to eat at home after we ate lunch.
They make decent food and baked goods but the atmosphere is awful. You can hear the manager yelling at her employees. I won't be returning after today. I can not support a business that talks to their employees the way the manager does. My BLT is nasty; hardly any mayo, chewy bacon and watery tomatoes.
Really nice Diner, great for a home cooked breakfast any day of the week! Fantastic friendly service with a smile and warm filling food prepared quickly for a dine in or take out! Enjoy their lovely pastries and baked goods with your morning coffee or stop in for a super lunch sandwich! Limited indoor seating with overflow seating on covered porch! Yum! They have the best baked goods and really great and consistent breakfast and lunch items. Their cherry chicken salad is my favorite ever!
Soup I had was good. Nothing special about it. Previously my daughter and I went and each of us got sandwiches. We split them and neither of us were thrilled with the grilled cheese or the BLT. When I eat out, I expect it to be better (or at least as good as) home made.
Got to Roscommon early. Thought I'd kill time at local McDonald's. This Cafe was in route. Made a u-turn to try it. Cought between Breakfast and Lunch time.
But they have a pastry counter "to die for". Ordered two items, different. As stated above.
This place is absolutely adorable! We ordered the biscuits and gravy with some over easy eggs and some assorted pastries. It was affordable, good portion sizes, and tasted really great. The staff is friendly and in addition to good food it was a fun and positive experience. I ordered my breakfast, picked out pastries from the case, and looked around the shop while I waited for my food. It was only a 5 minute drive for South Higgins state park.
Edit: went back for more! We got the country omelette, another coffee, and some more pastries (remembered to take a picture this time). So good!
Wow! We came in for breakfast today and we were ordered around and told where to stand by three different people. The final person (I assume is the owner) yelled at everyone to move down the counter. Apparently, our interest in having a meal was an imposition. I will NEVER be back!
