Best WLM Reviews
Despite a bit of a wait to be seated during the busy summer season, the experience is well worth it. The food is superb, perfectly complemented by the stunning views and vibrant atmosphere. The staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive, adding to the overall excellent dining experience.
We were here in 2021 & couldn’t wait to go back. Unfortunately when we did, it didn’t live up to our expectations. The service was great, but the food was average. I was really excited to see the Grouper Reuben back on the menu, but there was more batter than fish on it. The first time I got it, it was amazing, but I was really disappointed this time. Also, the Island Grouper platter was laughable - the fish was so small. On the plus side, the fish tacos, jalapeño poppers, & chicken egg rolls were good!
Overall, it was a great experience! But the lack of a kids' meal is ridiculous. A 2 year old should not have to get an adult chicken tender meal that $18, and they only eat one strip of it, but the food was great still. I'm just letting people know there are no kids' meals
We sat at the upstairs bar. Helpful wait staff, but had to wait a bit for our food. I had the Crab Cakes Sandwich with truffle fries. Crab cakes didn't taste very crabby & we're over powered by the sauce. Fries were good. One daughter got the Shrimp Cobb salad. It was delicious, as I snuck some. The other daughter got the Ahi salad & it was good too.
My wife, a friend, my daughter, & I stopped here for some appetizers for a summertime lunch. We were sat a table somewhat inside but this area was open to the outside with a comfortable breeze and shaded from the sun. The view was also ideal being right on the water with a variety of boats passing by. We started with the chicken wings. Even though ordered them with mild sauce so we could share with our young daughter, they still had a lot of flavor and had a good, crispy consistency. The Ahi Tuna Poke was too spicy for our daughter from the wasabi but the rest of us really enjoyed them.
Came here for lunch. Place was quite busy. The restaurant is right on lake. Everything we ordered was very good especially the Fried Perch sandwich. Service was good. Dogs are allowed which is a plus. Highly recommended if you’re in the area.
It reminds me of island vibes, got that lake breeze with birds around. Beautiful views. Great service. Every one was so welcoming ???? I got the island punch rum felt like I was not in Michigan haha it was delicious. I got the A1 burger it was on point. Crunchy onions on top oozing with A1 sauce, the burger has good grill marks. Definitely will be coming back.
So before eating here, I thought I’d do my due diligence and check out the reviews. I didn’t really get into reading many of them though, as a picture of the stuffed peppers caught my eye and I was already sold. This was our first time here and we were pretty excited to try this place.
We of course ordered the Baked Stuffed Jalapeños, the Ahi Tuna Poke, and the Blackened Mahi Tacos and Crab-Stuffed Shrimp.
The stuffed peppers:
I did ask the waitress if it was really spicy and if the peppers were deseeded because I cook with jalapeños frequently and I know that jalapeños can get pretty spicy if you leave too many of the seeds or stem in. She said that they were and that the peppers aren’t really that spicy. When we got the peppers and tried them, they were extremely spicy and the spice completely took over the great flavor of the filling. I know that levels of spice are tolerated differently with different palates but I don’t shy away from heat and I love spicy, but this was the kind of spicy that gives you a stomach ache and heart burn if you eat too much of it type of spicy. Then I saw the jalapeño seeds on the dish. We had to send the dish back because it was just too spicy to enjoy. I was disappointed that we couldn’t finish the dish but honestly, I would order them again if we decided to come back and give the peppers another try since it could’ve just been a situational fluke.
The Ahi Tuna Poke:
This was the meal of the day! I would come back to this place just for this dish. It was definitely a winner with flavors and textures and the sauces that came with it. If you like Ahi Tuna, this is one of the best ones I’ve tried. Chef’s kiss on this one.
Blackened Mahi Tacos:
These come in a set of 3. Unfortunately, these didn’t make the cut for us. They really just didn’t have any flavor which was a bummer because when you have the spectacular views that this place has, you expect the seafood to taste up to par or fresh and flavorful. We shared this plate and didn’t even finish the last taco.
Crab-Stuffed Shrimp:
Another dish that looked amazing but was just “ok”. The shrimp tasted bland and the crab in it wasn’t recognizable (if it didn’t say crab in the title, you wouldn’t know you were also eating crab). The cheese was thick and a bit chewy rather than melty and stringy as you would expect for a dish like this.
The atmosphere here is very pleasant, the views are beautiful, and the staff is friendly. Unfortunately, only 1 out of the 4 dishes we tried here was tasty for us.
