Super cute diner in Lakeview! We came in for brunch and had a really filling meal. We got a couple sandwiches, a deli sandwich and a breakfast sandwich. They were both good sandwiches and they came out pretty quick but not my favorite in the city. We shared a chocolate milkshake too and it was so heavy but also so good! A great experience overall and loved how friendly the staff was.
Phenomenal. The Rueben sandwich is amazing, and you can order a pastrami version. Sweet & Sour cabbage borscht soup was a superb starter.
I have been coming here for years but have not been back in a while. We recently went there the past couple Saturdays and had an excellent lunch. It is an old-school Delicatessen with all the great options including a tray of pickles on the table, bread and bagel chips. The food is great, the service is great and I love the atmosphere. Make sure to try their daily selection of soups, as on Saturdays, their potato soup is amazing. The only downside to our meal was they currently do not carry red horseradish for the gefilte fish, only the white, so I ordered something else. Please bring the red horseradish back. Will definitely be coming here more frequently.
Went for dinner with a group of friends, my first visit to The Bagel. Wow, what a great place! The staff had us seated & served promptly - their deli-oriented menu has lots to choose from, & our table really enjoyed our meals. Good-sized portions, awesome array of desserts! Can't wait to go back! Did I mention free parking - can't beat that!
I tried the Barb’s Bonanza sandwich with corned beef and chopped liver, and it was incredibly flavorful. Their potato pancake was equally fantastic. The Deli has such a charming and cozy atmosphere and is the perfect choice for visit on a cold, rainy, or snowy day.
The best pastrami Reuben I've had in decades! And Kreplach! A WARRIOR'S soup! My friend enjoyed the lox. Everything was delicious! The waiter was very attentive and would not let me eat when the wrong sandwich was brought out, until it had been corrected. The french fries are amazing! I need to keep coming back! Addedum: Here we are five days later! This time I had the regular Reuben, with a Black Cherry soda and of course, Kreplach! A WARRIOR'S soup! ????????????
Menu has a lot to offer! I am new to the neighborhood and I sat outside at a 2top with my 2 year old son. It took a bit to review the menu and decide so I did not mind the slow service while sitting outside. It was a challenge to keep my son entertained but the food came and it was great. The stuffed tomato came with lots of fresh veggies and coleslaw- I opted for tuna salad (chicken, egg, salmon salads were other options). There was no kids menu online but to my pleasant surprise, there was a kids menu on the menu handed to me. My son went with the standard chicken nuggets. I thought $9 was a little expensive for kids meal (no drink) but it was enough food for either 2 kids or 2 meals so we took over half home.
Our meal ended and while we were waiting for the bill and To-go box, my son became restless so we were up and I was chasing him around and doing my best to keep him out of the way. I admit this is problematic and apologized to staff/patrons while we waited. The manager/ owner/ host (older man with shaved head in a loose skirt sleeve button up) had the nerve to say "get a grip on him" INSTEAD of bringing a bill or box or doing anything to resolve our issue.
Had I gone to the Bagel without my child or not alone with him, I would have rate a 4 or 5, but I focus my reviews on dining with children and I likely will not return with kids.... I live nearby so I might get takeout because I was very happy with my meal!
I don't like to leave bad reviews but that was the worst lox bagel I've ever had. they don't have red onions or capers, they didn't toast it, there was minimal lox, and they put a half inch of cream cheese in a blob in the center of each half, like didn't spread it at all.
the bagel itself was fine and to be fair I didn't eat at the sit down restaurant. idk, this place was recommended for Jewish bagels and I was disappointed.
