Best WLM Reviews

It took 5 years to find a stylist who would listen to me. I used the same salon in Long Island, NY for over a decade and was blessed with a talented master stylist who had a great sense of style for curly hair management.
When we moved to upstate NY we originally lived a half hour north of Cooperstown, then moved to Hudson Falls. I’ve paid from $25-85 dollars and traveled from Albany, Troy, Saratoga Springs to near me locally and no one did more than a trim, wet or dry and even with a picture of my hair no one was cutting layers and thinning it out like it was cut for many years.. these are common hair cutting methods! And I was miserable since my super curly hair, considered a 3b ( they rate it!) it grows wide, out.. and looks like a square or a triangle!
TOMMY listened to me and actually cared about what I felt would look best and be manageable! Tommy IS a master stylist and knows how to style, cut and basically make every type of hair look it's best! I’m thrilled that I found him. This is the kind of profession someone can get lost in their artistry with, while I understand that, I have to be able to manage my hair too and I don't need just a trim! It’s a huge relief and makes me feel like I’m looking my personal best having a great haircut!!! I appreciate you more than you know Tommy!
If you are looking for a master colorist, THIS is the place to go! Today was my first visit. My hair was going to be a bit of a project and I knew it. I went into the salon thinking that it would take multiple appointments to get my hair where I wanted it. Let me tell you, when I say that Thomas exceeded all of my expectations…. Well l have a look for yourself, he worked a miracle. The man is an absolute magician!
Tommy is amazing! After I moved back to NY, my hair was in serious need of some TLC. I trusted him to lighten it, give it dimension and also to cut a lot of inches off. He did a fantastic job. He has a great personality and makes all of his clients not only feel welcome, but comfortable. I wouldn't ever consider going to another person for my hair after I found him. He listens to exactly what you want and gives you realistic options that he knows will work the best for this clients. I highly recommend Awesome Hair Lab!
Tommy is absolutely awesome! Hes quick, efficient & has always been very accomodating. Definitly was an awesome experience & he will actually carry on a conversation with you while working. Not have that akward silence the whole time. Definitly would recommend to any & all who need haircuts or hair treatment! Even made a friend out of the experience which is awesome too!
So a bit back story. I've been coloring my hair since forever. I've had the same hair dresser back in NYC whom I loved and trusted for more than 20 years. I moved up here in LG area permanently 2 years ago and made a decision to find someone local instead of traveling 4 hours to get my hair done. I've tried at least 4 different stylists and noone seemed to "get" my hair. Its curly and colored and needs special care.
During the past 2 years my hair has become dry dull and the past 6 months or so the last few processes really ruined my hair. It went from blonde to over processed blonde then to dull ashy brown. I was devastated and was about to travel back to my stylist back in NYC when I found Thomas at the Awesome Hair Lab. I've only been 2x but I immediately felt like this was the right place. Thomas took the time to actually listen to me and what happened to my hair. He didn't just jump right in and process my hair but led me to awesome products to help first restore my hair before even touching it. He explained that it will take a few visits to get where I want my hair to be . The 2nd visit was foil time with a glaze and wow what a difference already. I can see my hair becoming blonde AND healthy at the same time. It's the 1st time in 2 years that I'm happy about my hair and where it's going. Thank you Thomas!! If you're not happy with your current hair condition please make an appointment now! Pictures to follow...
I usually don’t write reviews but I have just been so upset with the whole experience. I decided to come here after reading all the reviews. I literally came home in tears. I wanted a haircut to get rid of split ends and to try and get rid of the orange from a faded red hair dye and get back to my natural hair color (dirty blonde around a level 7). Well there appears to be no orange but my hair is at least a level darker than my natural. It looks almost black in some lightings. I shared pictures of what my natural hair looked like before having my hair done and it looks nothing like it. I would have much rather it turn out lighter than darker. It’s two days before my wedding and my hair is so dark I have no idea what to do. I definitely made sure to say I did not want it dark and the husband to be said it looks way too dark for my natural. When I got home I noticed there was dye all over my face, that I have been trying to get off so it doesn’t show up in pictures.
I felt rushed and shocked from the moment I sat in the chair. Before we could even finish talking about how I usually cut my hair there were scissors cutting my hair. It’s a lot shorter than I expected, cut at least 6 inches off my hair. I only wanted the minimum cut off it and after cutting I was asked “I cut this much off is that ok?”.
What we discussed on the phone for having done that day is not at all what was actually done. Now I’m out another several hundred dollars and my hair is still not like I want. This is the reason some people do their own hair at home. It’s frustrating to show what you want and end up with something completely different or what the stylist wants to do. The only thing I can think to do is try and wash it a bunch to see if it will lighten any and hope I was told the truth that it wouldn’t fade red/orange.
Update: I added photos as well. The first is of my natural that I asked for and shared to show what I wanted. The updo is after washing and scrubbing my hair 6 times in hot water trying to get the color out. The last is what it looked like when I left the salon.
I like how I’m made out to be the bad guy here. You just have to deflect all negative reviews back to your customers which is childish but ok. I showed pictures of exactly what I wanted before the appointment which was my natural color. Most people know that roots are darker than the lengths of the hair but maybe you aren’t aware of that. That’s why I shared pictures which anyone has always told me I am a 7 not a 6. I have never had a stylist slap color on my head the way you did, get it all over my face, and send me home with color on my face. As soon as you took my hair out of the sink and sat me in the chair to dry I told you it looked way too dark. But you kept insisting it was my natural color. I was uncomfortable from the moment I stepped foot in your shop and don’t worry I won’t be back. The problem is you made a commitment you didn’t want to keep and then tried to make me feel bad about it. I would have just called to others that would have been available to take my appointment. Your reply to my honest review just shows what type of person you are. You were frantic and ahead of yourself as soon as I sat in the chair and I’m not sure how that is my fault. It’s ok though, I know the truth of what happened and I also know that karma is a very powerful thing. x3
I would highly recommend The Awesome Hair Lab to anyone! What Thomas did to my hair was amazing! Left feeling I had been transformed and beautiful. Thomas is truly amazing at color and I'll be back and also telling all my friends!
Hadn't had my hair done in years due to fear of being done wrong or being messed up, And Thomas seemed to be highly educated and experienced. He explained the entire process every step of the way, and I am beyond pleased with my experience.
