Best WLM Reviews

Thanet is experienced and reasonable. He is honest and will only do the repairs if your vehicle need it or else he will let you know that you don't need it. He has worked on my different vehicles over past decade and never disappointed me.
Thanet is the most honest mechanics out there. I have a 2015 VW Jetta and my AC broke two weeks ago. I needed a new compressor, condenser, and extension valve. For all that he did, the price was extremely reasonable. When I picked it up today, he showed me what my busted parts looked like/walked me through what was wrong and why. He’s a great man and mechanic. Highly recommend!
I relied on Thanet for years in the 90s until I bought a new car. Thanet NEVER fixed anything twice! If he fixed it, it stayed fixed! Now that I’m out of warranty again, I can’t wait to have him inspect my car. I’ll drive across Austin to see him. If He’ll fix your car, let him. I relied heavily on him for years. I’m glad he’s still here. My car now is in better shape than the one he knew but I still won’t go to a dealer. I’ve seldom had a good experience at the dealership. Thanet is THE MAN! Can I give him him 6 or 10 stars?
I've used Thanet exclusively since the first time I was referred to his shop several years ago. He has probably worked on my cars 5 or 6 times. A very honest man, he does very good work, gives good advise, and labor charges are very reasonable.
Thanet is the best mechanic I've found in Austin. Honest, reliable, and timely. His prices are fair, and if you can't fix it, he'll not only tell you, he'll point you in the right direction to take care of the problem.
Thanet is honest and knowledgeable, which is a great combination. I waited for 5 minutes while he was on the phone with a manufacturer or insurer, because the latter had called to tell Thanet that he was right and they were wrong. That's not a call I expect to here, but it speaks volumes to the professional that Thanet is. Bring your car to Thanet.
My experience with Thanet Auto Service was a disaster. Since he has had so many good reviews in the past, I believe that something must have happened which makes him unable to work in his profession.
He was supposed to check to find out if there was a serious problem with the engine and replace the water pump. After he had the vehicle for several days he called and told me that he would not be able to do the work because he could not find a tool that was required. When I went to pick up the vehicle I checked the oil and found that there was water in the oil and the oil level was extremely high. He could not tell me the name of the tool that he needed. The engine would barely run. Apparently what happened is that Thanet left the engine running and allowed it to overheat so badly that the engine was destroyed.
When I took the vehicle to Thanet, the water pump leaked very badly so the vehicle could only be driven for a short distance without adding coolant, and I told him about this problem. I had been carefully watching the temperature gauge to make sure it did not show overheating.
I took it to another mechanic that I trust and he told me that no special tool is required to work on this engine. He said it was probably running on only two of the four cylinders.
Several things seemed strange when I dropped off the vehicle, but I thought they might have been from problems communicating, and I wanted to have him do the work because his shop is not very far from where I live. He insisted that I go to an auto parts store to find the price of a rebuilt engine, even though I was not interested in spending that much to fix the vehicle. When I returned he had locked up the shop and I had to wait almost an hour for him to return from lunch. Later I found out that several things he told me were incorrect (e.g., the AC would require R-12 Freon). He kept leaving me in the office while he attended to other things or talked on the phone. He would not give me a written estimate and it took a long time to get a verbal estimate from him. When he did it was nearly twice what he had told me on the phone, but it was not out of line with other estimates I had been given. By that time I had been at his shop for between three and four hours.
excellent service, extremely reasonable and overall Thanet is a good man. infrequently he has some minor communication issues however he offers such a variety of services and such good value its hard to give him anything but 5 stars.
