Empty on a Friday at 7 so we were a little skeptical, but wanted Thai food so whatever. Food blew us away! Spicy noodles rocked! Papaya salad was great and so was the green curry. Everything with the perfect amount of spiciness which was the first good sign.
Service was good but some music would help with the ambiance. Overall, Carmel Valley is sitting on a sleeper here.
Also everything is super affordable!
This was an amazing lunch. I came across Carmel Valley by chance when I realized there was a bus line that runs there, am
I glad I stayed on the bus to explore this area and find this restaurant! The patio dining in the sun with a view of the valley was priceless. A lovely patron who was also sunbathing invited me to join her, it was great to know we were experiencing the same bliss on the patio. I went for the pumpkin curry and it was paired really nicely with hot sauce, there were other lunch specials available I would have loved to try. The staff were remarkably kind, from the female server who acknowledged everyone by “dear” to the other gentleman introducing that he was from El Salvador and loves to work at this location for the ambiance. I can definitely see why, it was one of my most peaceful meals.
Food wasn‘t good, service was slow although we were the only customers and no free refills on the sodas. We were really disappointed.
Nothing special, but I probably have a quite high standard for my Thai food. Still food was very decent, quite nice mango sticky rice. Fried rice was OK, Pad-thai was surprisingly good too.
Authentic Thai food. Absolutely delicious. I asked for Mango & sweet rice (as it had a good memory attached to a visit to Thailand). I don't know if it was on the menu, but they made it for me. Such sweet staff & flavorful food. Service was a little slow (think there are few staff), but worth it.
Service was excellent, always a plus! Walked in and was promptly seated. Decided to sit outside seeing that they had a nice patio with lots of plants and a nice view of the hillside. Ordered Chicken Pad Thai that was very delicious and not overly spiced. Was always attended to while dining on the patio. If you are looking for Great Thai cuisine I. So so good. In fact my wife and I split a couple of items and it was more than enough. The Thai fried rice and pad Thai with peanut sauce. We got into town and stayed at the lodge nearby and had very little opportunity to grab food but they were willing to stay open for us even for a few minutes after closing time. The owner was wonderful.
We had dinner here last night. Really great pineapple and shrimp curry. Also gyoza was excellent! The Pad Thai was not good, sadly. Very bland with not enough oil or egg bits. A wedge of lime would have been nice too. Would definitely eat here again but stick to the curry section.
