Best WLM Reviews
I wanted to love this place, I really did but there are a few reasons that I am rating it 3-star. First, the tables were dirty and it wasn't the fault of the lady who was cleaning them at the time that we visited, IMO they were not appropriately staffed to clean tables regularly at peak time. Second, the drinking water had a raw egg smell to it ????! Third, the food was average.
On a positive note the server who brought us our food was wonderful and they resolved an issue with our order very quickly which I appreciated. However, it is unlikely that I would visit again.
I visited the West End location with my husband while visiting DC and had a phenomenal experience. Aside from the food being absolutely to die for, the customer service is really what impressed me. At the register, we were greeted by an older black woman who was so kind to share suggestions and explain the menu to me despite being very busy. It truly made the ordering experience a breeze. My latte was delivered by a younger light skinned black male and I am not sure where he received his customer service training by but by far he’s got it down pat. After delivering my order he told me, “have a nice day, okay?” but it wasn’t just a pleasantry, it truly seemed like a genuine request. I am beyond impressed with the food, ambiance, and customer service provided!
Excellent cafe at the heart of Washington DC. I have come here several times. The pastries are delicious - they used to have a mixed nut pie which was my favorite but they have discontinued it. I do enjoy the apricot and pistachio cake although the quality somewhat inconsistent. The almond croissant is also good. I don’t care for their chai tea latte because it tastes kind of watered down. The prices are reasonable for DC.
One of the best breakfast places I tried in Washington, trust me.. I took for the first the Orange Upside Down Cake, if you like citrics, that has to be your choice 100%. Also tried pistachio croissants, good but nothing from another world. Tried both SCRAMBLED EGG PLATE - $10.75, served with housemade sourdough, with190 cal. And they were delicious.. I’ve to mention that they weren’t my first choices; I wanted the Quiches, but they ran out of them at 9:30am. It sounds like a joke, but no.. anyway I’d give them 5 star review with this last detail. The environment, atmosphere, service, place, fantastic. I’d go again for sure!
Okay first time at this bakery fortunately they messed up an order however I believe she was a manager the black lady unfortunately I did not get her name she's amazing she came up and apologize and fixed the order that was great. The food was good, very large servings and tasty. They have a large array of pastry that I will go back and try. Besides the error in the other being messed up and taking long everything was good with nice atmosphere.
This delightful little bakery was the first one I have eaten at in Washington DC. Absolutely great food and a wonderful uptown college like atmosphere. Very fun and upbeat and an enjoyable place to sit and watch people walk by either inside next to the window or outside under the umbrellas.
This truly is a hip place to visit and very trendy. I also don’t think I’ve ever had a better brownie for a dessert. Absolutely delicious.
Good place to stop for something sweet.
They also have a good variety of savory options too.
Tried apricot pistachio cake. Really good.
Only one negative point - I wish the line was going faster.
Title: A Bakery Bliss in DC's West End
Review:
After a delicious dinner in another restaurant, I had the pleasure of visiting Tatte Bakery & Cafe shortly before closing, and it was a delightful experience. It was the perfect spot for a late-evening treat near my hotel. I ordered a cappuccino and a lemon mint tart, and both were exceptional. The cappuccino was perfectly brewed, and the tart was a refreshing blend of tangy lemon and cool mint, beautifully presented with just the right amount of sweetness.
The bakery's ambiance added to the experience. It's a spacious and stylish spot with an inviting outdoor seating area that I look forward to enjoying on my next visit. The staff was friendly and efficient, ensuring my order was perfect even as the day was winding down. The service was impressively quick despite the late hour, adding to the overall positive experience.
In addition to its delicious pastries, Tatte Bakery & Cafe offers a variety of breakfast and trim meal options, including pancakes and sandwiches, making it an excellent choice for any time of day.
For anyone looking for a cozy place to end their day with a delicious pastry and a warm drink, Tatte Bakery & Cafe is a must-visit. It's a beautiful addition to the area and a spot I'll return to when I'm back in DC.
