No frills Indian restaurant with focus on South Indian restaurant. Went from breakfast/brunch around noon on a Sunday and the place was half occupied. Had the mysore masala dosa and my friend had the madras masala dosa and both were amazing. Gotta say I found it to be better than Udipi in Monroeville. We also had the idlis which were soft and fluffy and the bisi bele bhaath which was just okay. They didn’t have filter coffee which was a let down and the regular coffee that they had was very mediocre. Would avoid.
Great selection of South Indian cuisine. Been there several times and this place never disappoints.
Great food
Edit: the service has gone downhill. Extremely poor treatment since two years. Food quality fallen as usual. Repeatedly delivers wrong order. Not worth it anymore. Disappointed
Edit: (2021) Tried this again after a long time. Service has improved a lot. There were three servers (all new). Extremely fast, attentive and also very polite. Totally opposite of my previous three experiences. Also, the food is now a lot better and tastes exactly as advertised. No more items drizzled in tomato ketchup.
This place was a pleasant surprise. We were welcomed in by very friendly hosts. It is relatively small but the array of foods were amazing. Very fresh and unique choice of dishes, different from the typical American-Eastern Indian restaurant buffet selections. Love the tastes of everything. Great mutton curry. Breads were fresh and soft. We could not stop eating. Prices were fair. I think Indians are tough customers to please because most of us are used to our mother's cooking. So restaurants have hard time competing with our high standards but I think this place really stood out in terms of freshness and flavors. And unforgettably friendly hosts made the visit memorable...
It's a really nice Indian restaurant in Pittsburgh. The ambiance is pleasant. Remains very busy (went on Friday night). The staff are courteous though a little slow. Ordered Masala dosa.. coconut chutney can be improved, otherwise superb.
I recommend Lamb Korma if you like spicy food and looking for something truly spicy (you also can choose spicy levels).
Be prepared the rice pudding is hot if you want to try that.
Lamb curry is also tasty, but I hope they offer more rice with the plate instead of charging 4 dollars for an extra plate of rice.
Highly recommend their garlic naan! Very fresh, well made and delicious!
I would NEVER recommend this place in a million years! The food was the worst Indian food we have had. I ordered paneer with peas and it was all sauce…very little paneer. The rice they gave me with all the extra sauce was about a half cup. Really? They are stingy on quantity. Stingy in quality.
The menus were on the table and they looked like they had been in a flood (all warped and worn) but still used. They didn’t even print us a bill so we could review it before paying. Probably too cheap to pay for paper is our guess.
The naan was good so I have an extra star.
No excuses!!. It was great the food quality is very authentic and indian. The crowd amazed me more since a lot of them were native. The service was good. Only if they could add directions to handwash and certain aesthetic part of the area they are doing great. When I was dinning it was crowded and then the services were unattended. They could increase raita quantity when served with biryanis, but you can ask for more.
Definitely looking to come again with many more people.
