Amazing food, amazing price. Authentic hole in the wall restaurant in the heart of LA. I was surprised it wasn’t busier on a Sunday morning because their breakfast chilaquiles were so good! We got both the green chilaquiles with chicken and egg as well as the chilaquiles de mole with chicken and egg as well. I would definitely recommend both plates just be aware that the green salsa is a little spicy and it can be a bit much for those who aren’t used to the spice. The flavor of the green sauce was great though! They have a couple small tables outside too so it’s dog friendly :)
If you enjoy a tasty savory fresh tamale then this is the spot. The atmosphere great too!
Super cool place friendly service ..
I Gad the green salsa chicken ..and the mole ..
Really good the green salsa chicken it was nice and hot
My new favorite place for a Mexican breakfast! Yes, they specialize in tamales. But they also serve an array of breakfast items like chilaquiles, breakfast burritos, eggs, steak and menudo on the weekends.
I was blessed to come by on a Sunday to try their delicious menudo. Their tripe is not chewy, it’s perfectly cooked and the soup is incredibly filling. Comes with a homemade hot sauce, spices to mix in, onion, cilantro, lime and tortilla.
Their tortillas are handmade, and you can really taste how much of a difference this makes. Their quesadillas may look a little small but don’t be fooled, they’re long and super filling.
Super friendly staff who care about your meal. Highly recommend the jamaica drink, made with real rosella flowers and such a treat to balance the meal with.
Price is very fair, a medium menudo (of which 1/3 was more than enough for me) was $9. We got Chilaquiles, an asada quesadilla and that menudo for $25 total. Plenty of street parking out front.
I can’t even eat my tamales. I bought 4 tamales for me and my girlfriend, just a quick grab before I start getting ready for work. The chicken tamales I got taste like soap. My girl on the other hand finished hers and she got the pork one mainly because she’s hungry. But as one of the many line cooks in the field, my advice for this business is ALWAYS taste your food before pushing it to the line and please get better at food handling. I can’t believe I choose this place more than the street vendors cause I had tried way too cheaper and way more delicious tamales out there.
Almost as good as my grandmas. you won’t find any better no where else. The tamales are delicious. My favorite pork with red and chicken with green.
Really good food, is really close to what we eat in Mexico but not quite there yet, even so a really good option, I was satisfied. The red chilaquiles were really good, had some chorizo eggs on the side and one tamale (beef) to try, the prices were really reasonable like 13 dollars a person with the drink included. Overall I recommend this place for the quality of the food and the price .
Great tamales with great sauces. I can not pick a favorite because I love all of them.
