Best WLM Reviews
We were very sad when Taj Mahal went to all carry out. That said, we ordered Chicken Tikka Masala for our son’s graduation party and it was a HUGE hit. I literally heard people say they went up for thirds it was so good! However, for me, it was the overall experience. Taj Mahal was so kind and appreciative of our order. From placing the order to picking it up for our party, it was just a great experience. I would highly recommend them for any event!
Prolly the best place u will find in IOWA for authentic Indian cuisine and grocery. It's not common to find such places in low populated states like IOWA. Cedar Rapids is a small town and this place is icing on the cake for people from South Asia.
We ordered from the menu and didn't have the buffet. The food tasted great. The portions sizes were larger than expected which we really enjoyed. I recommend however take-out as the dining area was the only drawback. It is little dark and the hot buffet makes you feel you are in the kitchen.
~*I wasn’t too thrilled with Taj Mahal Cuisine of India. The food lacked in spice and flavor. I understand they may be trying to cater more to the customers and such but bland food is not what you expect when going to an Indian restaurant. There was a lunch buffet. Several of the options need to be replenished.
They definitely need to invest in the appearance of the building. It looks dirty and unwelcoming.*~
The staff were beyond friendly! We didn’t realize we came in probably only 15 minutes until they close for lunch. We only overheard another customer ask if they were closed while we were waiting for our food. We felt so bad!!! But they never made us feel rushed, they didn’t act annoyed or frustrated with us at all that we came in so late. We would have never known if I didn’t overhear - that’s how kind and sweet the staff were.
And the food…OMG the food is so good. Hands down the best lamb curry we’ve had. I tried something new - Chicken Makhani and it was so so so good. I could drink the sauce straight out of the bowl. We also had garlic naan and peshwari naan which was sweet and salty. Both flavors of naan were soft and fluffy with the most delightfully crispy crunchy edges. We left stuffed and very very happy.
Best Indian food (in my humble opinion) in Cedar Rapids or Iowa City. Made fresh.
Many vegetarian options.
If you are wanting to try out Indian dining I would suggest their Chicken Tikka Masala. We also enjoy the chicken and mushrooms and tandoori chicken. Their naan is outstanding.
The staff is so wonderful. We have been coming here for many years.
They have a buffet that seems very popular with vegetarian options as well as many other dishes. I like that they label them. So if you’re in a hurry you can grab some right away or take some to go.
They are closed on Tuesdays.
Overall service was good! But food is little bit ok.

I ordered Mysore Masala Dosa and Samosa Chat. Honestly, I didn't like that Dosa. The layer was so thick. And it has some big potato pieces, it should be well meshed. The Samosa Chat was really great. The taste of tamarind chutney, and mint chutney was amazing. Even the chick peas and Samosa is good. Also, aloo chat is amazing.
If you want waste money then come here
