Astonished at how amazing this place was. Interesting and creative roll combinations, excellent nigiri, and friendly service! The spicy garlic edamame was fantastic as well. If I lived here I’d be a regular!
I stopped at City Sushi after a ski day. I had already eaten some afternoon snacks so I didn't need a big meal. I sat at the bar, had a lovely conversation with everyone around (customers and employees). Everybody treated me super nice, the food (a roll and the "employees miso soup") was very tasty, the hot sake nice and comforting, just a nice meal for a reasonable price.
Personally, I would recommend this place to any of my friends.
I was not in the mood for Sushi but my friends really wanted it and Tahoe City Sushi was available. We had to wait a while and after eventually getting seated, I was surprised at how good the food was. I’m not a fan of sushi and only will order limited items but the edamame and soup were excellent. The service was good but the restaurant definitely needs to be updated. I don’t mind eating at a dive but this place felt somehow different from a charming dive - more just rundown. I would have given four stars but it’s disappointing to read other reviews regarding the flags hanging in the window and what those flags mean. I didn’t pick up on that while I was there.

Best sushi place in north shore! We first visited here several summers ago on a vacation and had all of our staples: sashimi, rolls, sake, etc. Everything was delicious, and I would say superior to what we even expected considering how few sushi restaurants are in the area. The location is great right in Tahoe City, and there's a nearby parking lot near a mall and a whole bunch of other shopping, so I strongly recommend making a day of it.
I read some of the reviews and was hoping this would be a good little whole in the wall with really good food. However, I would have rather gone to the Safeway next door and get my sushi there and I would have been more satisfied. I would not recommend this place to anyone who truly loves sushi. Not worth the money that was spent AT ALL.
Came here after a day snowboarding at Palisades. Very fresh and delicious sushi! Did not disappoint. It is hard to find fresh and tasty sushi coming from the Reno area, so I would say that this place is worth a trip to Tahoe and paying a la carte. Only issue was that we ordered hot green tea as we were cold from a day in the snow, but the tea was luke warm at best. The hot and flavorful Miso soup made up for this!
People give this place a hard time for bad costumer service/not being able to accommodate large parties. The truth is that this place is just super small and usually slammed! If you give them some patience the food is amazing and easily some of the best sushi in tahoe!
The food is decent. But it probably takes 3 poke bowls to fill a grown man. The waiter sat us and didn't give us menus for 10 minutes. When he came, he was asking what we want but we hadn't seen the menus then. The food preparation takes about 40 minutes. We have to ask for the check 3 times before actually getting it. All in all, won't be back anytime soon
