I only buy my Italian sausage at this meat market. It is the best I've ever tasted. And everybody there is a pleasure. But I did get some hog head cheese there this time and it was so salty I could not eat it. Very unusual
Went to Tags Meat Market to pick up
hoghead & Ham to bring back to Tennessee.
They do not carry these things up here. Every time I come down I have to go back to Tennessee to bring food from home. Keep up the excellent service .
Tags as an old neighborhood meat store that now also makes sandwiches for lunch crowd. I stopped by when visiting chalmette to get my fix of liver cheese and Chesisi ham cold cuts.
Used to always get the potato sandwich on french dressed with roast beef debris gravy. Now I'm eating corn flakes in Nebraska due to financial challenges.
When you feel like eating a great cheese burger ???????? go to this place, every time we work in chalmette we definitely go here I personally get a cheese ???? burger on French ???? dressed and man I telling you very ????.
My Meat Server Was Not Very Friendly Today and didn't answer my questions about washing her hands after she served and was wrapping my ground beef! When I first arrived at the market as I approached the counter, i ask how much was the ground beef today and she started sweeping and had me wait and avoided my question on how much was the ground beef today asking a second time ? So i waited till she was finished and I did not see her wash her hands and she was not wearing any gloves either, then i ask her had she washed her hands as she finally acknowledged me and just replied and said with an attitude manner " my hands are clean mam! Even though her hands may have been clean before she swept the floor with the broom she was using to sweep the flour was not! So I asked her again twice then again a third time and she just kept repeated and avoided my question as she wrapped my ground beef, for the third consecutive time My hands are clean and have a nice day mam! And she looked at me firmly and then turned away as if to say, I do not want to answer you so just leave, rather than ; can I help you with anything else mam ! Sad, I am a regular customer and I love this place and the food is always fresh and clean but I am not so sure since I have experienced what had happened to me today and knowing the owner would not have ever allowed a customer or any body to be treated that way! Hopefully it is addressed because I will not tolerate this kind of disrespect as a regular elderly customer knowing she should have been polite and respectful to me as I was always to her as well as all employees wherever I go. God Bless this place and all of the workers they are usually helpful and kind, not sure what happened this day but it made me feel not appreciated at all today ! Maybe i will try again and hopefully she will recognize her way and do better next time! Hopefully to others as well ???? God Bless this place and all who enter as well as all who work here also !
Although I didn't order a bite due to the lack of hunger. I did visit the meat market and made a few groceries with them. I sampled their homemade hog head cheese for the first time and it wasn't bad at all. A very quaint and homely market and restaurant for the Locals and far / abroad Louisianians to drive all the way from wherever to Chalmette just to show them love and take some hog head cheese back with them.
Good food for a good price. Love their po-boys.
