The food was ok. Not the best Mexican we've ever had, but they gave us plenty. We had the fish (Mojarra) I could taste the LAKE water lol and the grease it was fried in, also parts of the fish were dark brown (skipped those), but their grilled chicken, rice, and beans were good. Guacamole was fresh but lacking any flavor (had none of the ingredients/flavors that guac normally has; salt, jalapeño, lime, tomatoes, onions)...food in general was lacking flavor. Service was nice! Place is small and cute
Taco Madre has been a fan favorite for a long time now. Food costs now are now shown in the smaller portions with a hefty price. Chips and salsa now have be purchased instead of being a better part of the experience. The burrito I ordered was tasty, but not the quality I remember. Rather, it was small. Beans and the rice were edible but not outstanding. Even the hot sauce parlayed with the meal was meh. The dining area is small and narrow, and there is no room for groups.
Stopped by for lunch today and they took my order right away after I walked in the door. The restaurant is a little bit out of dated but completely spotless and obviously clean on a vigorous schedule. Found the bathroom to be also clean and tidy. Food was delicious as always. My favorite is the green hot sauce and for a few weeks there it seemed like they had changed the recipe. But it's back to the same old yummy flavor with plenty of spice.
I do love to go here. The decor is outdated but the food and price is worth the visit. It's a busy small restaurant. They have beer on the menu and authentic Mexican food. The waitresses and busser have always been friendly everything I've went to eat here. It is in a convenient location right downtown close to the court house.
Great food, service and experience! Very clean restaurant and restrooms.
Food ordered easily and arrived fast during peak lunch time on a Friday!
Portion are very large, in fact a shareable size for us!
Taco salad w/chicken had large amounts of chicken, cheese, sauce, lettuce and tomatoes.
Steak burrito (the smaller version) was Huge! Loaded with tender steak.
Excellent discovery..shame it took so long for us to finally get there!!

2pm on a Saturday and all the tables were occupied except one. I sat and after studying the menu for an extended time, one of the young ladies came by and apologized for my wait. "Can I get your drink order?" She went and pulled a beer from the cooler and I had enough time to drink half of it before another young lady took my food order. Not exactly speedy service.
The burrito was good. Nicely filled but the fillings were all layered. One bite of salsa. Next bite of sour cream and lettuce. Next bite of chicken. It was all tasty but this method of filling the "King Burrito" meant that there was no melding of flavors.
Their tacos are amazing. Their service is fast and friendly. Their prices are reasonable. Go eat there, you won't regret it!
Although the food may be good if they ever make a mistake on your order they won't refund you, fix the order, take any accountability and then they will play on your intelligence as if there's a language barrier when they all speak English and Spanish impeccably. I won't be returning I can accept poor service on occasion but to play as if my comprehension skills are inferior to and below par and out right steal my money I will never again return.
