Best WLM Reviews
Fine place to enjoy the old market place and watching people passing by. The waiter is a kind of itself: friendly, efficient and managing his colleagues. We just had snacks and a couple of beers.
Beautifully located terrasse, with a large selection of coffees, teas alongside a wide selection of Croque Monsieur type of food for a late morning stop.
Service was speedy and courteous.
As someone who is also currently working at catering industry in the Netherlands, the service and the food here deserves a 0 star. The waiters seem all so unhappy, no smile, no greetings, no thank you, no “enjoy your food”. They just dropped the plates and left…lol. They even forgot their payment machine at my table…and let’s talk about food. 24 euros for this? The steak is tasteless and dry. Champion natuur is just chopped champions in a oil bath??!? As a tourist, I didn’t really pick restaurant and if anyone sees this review, go somewhere else please…I went to KFC afterwards:). But if you just want to grab a drink here, sure then. Otherwise, RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My recommendation for this place is not to go there. Despite being located right in the town hall square, the place was empty for a reason. There were four of us, and we ordered two coffees, one tea, and two quite expensive waffles. One of our friends can't drink cow's milk, and since there was no plant-based milk available, she went to another establishment to get a coffee to continue enjoying the experience with us. As soon as the waiter saw her enter, he started confronting her, saying she couldn't consume that coffee there and should stay outside because she wasn't from the establishment. We tried to explain that she couldn't drink coffee with cow's milk, that it wasn't something she wanted or a whim but a necessity. Instead of understanding or even listening to us, he became angrier, shouted at us, and it seemed at one point that he might get physical if the situation continued. Eventually, we all decided to leave the place. Honestly, a very unpleasant experience. It was a violent situation for everyone, a tough time for our friend, who was frustrated by not being able to consume the products at the establishment. It was an easily avoidable situation; I understand they may not want to promote another establishment, but they could have given us a cup from their place to make it seem like the coffee was from there. Honestly, it's shameful. There's a reason why it has the reviews it does. A Rubens in the direction of closing, let's hope.
Great food and pretty extensive menu! Specifically, they have Schnitzel from all over Europe. Offers a menu in English or Dutch.
Located in pedestrian section, so no parking. Very casual.
Very Poor service from a male server.
We came with 2 at first and then my friend wanted to join us. We tried to make place for her and then he came to pull the table away immediately. And said it should be fine to sit 3 persons on one small table. His tone was impolite and rude.
We came to eat ...not to drink. There just wasn't enough place for 3 plates and at the moment there were plenty vacant tables, more than enough.
So as a former server this was the worst experience. This is the last time we come here.
Do not come here if you want / expect nice service..
I WOULD NOT RECOMEND TO EAT THERE..The food is terrible I don't know how they dare to served it ..The WC facilities are discusting for a Cafe in that location I complaint to the City Hall should be done one can cacht a disease in that filty toilette...
Conclusion: It wasn't that bad.
I saw the one starred reviews and was honestly appalled, but went despite it. The food was okay, edible. Don't expect much, don't expect anything at all, even.
In their defense, the menu is relatively cheap considering the pretty location and that's one of its' star quality. It's really nice to just sit here and do some people watching and pass the evening by.
Another saving point for me was the facade at the terrace, which was better against the rain compared to the neighbouring restaurants.
