If you can get through the barbed wire in the front desk (females on reception) and talk to a doctor, you get taken care of. Had to threaten to walk in with my covid, before I got to a phone consult.
Admin have the empathy of a brick.
Not helpful what so ever, people who don't normally go to the doctors should be seen first up, there is a reason why you are there! Having to wait a week for an appointment not good enough!!! My partner could have died no thanks to your surgery heart failure and he was told you don't need an appointment!
Cheers putaruru/tirau family doctors!
Very good practice. They try their best to fit you in if it's urgent, and the doctors are knowledgeable and explain in detail anything you need/want to know. If you need referring to a specialist this is done promptly and you can get blood tests at Path Lab who are in the same building. Yes, appointments run late, but that is because they have so many patients on their books and not everyone has a simple problem that can be sorted in 15 minutes. I would recommend this practice to anyone.
Great medical center, friendly staff and always able to get an appointment when needed within a reasonable time period
"Arrogant attitude" is the only words to describe whoever is in charge of arranging appointment times. My request was for the first appointment of the day so as not to be kept waiting (as is normally the case at just about any doctors). I was given an 8.15am appointment. I arrived on time at 8.10.... sorry doors are locked and staff are just inside talking, so I waited until 8.15 (the time of my appointment) and once again tried the doors and again they were still locked with staff still talking. At this point I felt that I was being ignored and that they never intended for me to be seen at 8.15 so I left with a bitter taste in my mouth. I am left to wonder how they expect prospective patients to be seen with the doors locked. I will in future travel out of town for any medical requirements as the attitude of the staff at the Putaruru center leaves a lot to be desired.

Twice in a row now I have had to wait 45mins after my appointment time and then today for 1hour 10mins. I have to try and get the time off work for this. I understand sometimes you may not have control over this but how hard is it to ring or give a text if you are running this far behind. $75 dollars to get a medical that takes 10mins is absurd. All i am asking is for a phone call or text in further it would keep people a lot happier.
Late again 21-05-18 20mins after my appointment time I even rung to ask if they where on time and they said yes!
Rude nurse and wouldn't listen to me. Completely ignored me when I told her twice my bandage feels too tight but she continued to tape it down without saying a thing. Left angry and upset because i had to go out and buy my own tape and bandage material to re do it myself. Waste of money and time.
We are new to Putaruru and are looking at moving to a local medical centre. The receptionist was extremely helpful and getting us on our way to transfer over. Looking forward to meeting the new Dr later this week.
