Amazing view from the summit. One can see all of Dunedin, Port Chalmers and all the areas around. The last few 100 metres of the approach road are unsealed, but not difficult to drive over. You can also trek up the hill.
One of the best hikes in Dunedin. I have done more than 5 trips. It's worth every bit for amazing views!
Fab track upto the summit of Mount Cargill. Water parts make it more interesting for the experienced climber but a great walk for the beginner
Road closed for the last 3.5km. You will see the sign "road closed resident access only" further down the road and you need to turn. Very sad that they close beautiful views and walks to the public.
Great half day hike. Track surface is gravel and well maintained generally, and while a taller mountain than Flagstaff is a bit easier with the climbing spread out evenly. Around 2.5km from Bethunes Gully is a slight rocky portion which can be negotiated with reasonable ease even with lightweight trail shoes. Great hike or run for beginners and excellent views at the top.
Worth your time! Wonderful walking track and you get to see amazing view up there
A mild/ long hiking which results in the highest point in Dunedin: It's the only place that you can see loads of snows during winter. The path starts with lush green meadows and green fallen trees in the beginning. While you are walking amongst the woods, you see the magnificent tall trees up in the air which make you stay every five min to take a Selfie! The more you climb the uphill, more you can see the beauty of the landscape exist at the top which urges you to carry on!
Great experience with and without clouds. This highest point in Dunedin gives a lovely view of Dunedin and peninsula- I felt like I am watching a movie with visual effects. If there are clouds you feel like riding on them just like dreams.
