To the Scottish doctor who began our consult this morning with "you know your [condition] better than I do: tell me what's going on" - dead set legend. Thanks for putting us at ease, reassuring us we'd been doing the right thing, and taking care to explore options available to us. Thank you
OH MY GOODNESS, this hospital is the best. Walked in, attended to immediately by super lovely nurses and doctors. Super clean place.
Wish I lived here. On holiday and needing medical help.
My husband became extremely ill when we landed in Queenstown. The flight attendants/security team contacted the emergency medical personnel who took him off the plane, to the ER where he received immediate care and a preliminary diagnosis. The ER staff were so careful and kind to him and to me as well. The dr determined he needed to go to a different hospital (Dunedin) and the helicopter emergency crew came right away. They were also extremely kind and helped us understand what was happening and what needed to happen. I'm crediting the entire staff with saving his life.
Thank you with all my heart!
I came to this ED on Friday after a work-place accident injuring my foot. I was so disappointed in my experience, I had to crawl to the bathroom as there was no-one around to assist (or bring me a wheelchair). I was crying from the pain and didn't get pain relief until 2 hours after someone said they would get me some and a nurse took more than 40 minutes to get me some crutches so I could leave. Oh and it's taken nearly a week to get the radiology report to see if I have broken anything in my foot.
I’ve been in and out of the ED here 3 times throughout the last week with what has turned out to be appendicitis.
I had one Dr who was a tad dismissive, however Dr Lisa and Dr Justin were both absolutely amazing. They have fantastic bedside manner, took my pain very seriously, and were determined to figure out an answer for me. Seriously, they are fantastic!
All of the nurses were very helpful, kind, gentle, and very knowledgeable. The younger nursing student I saw on Monday afternoon and the RN who helped me this morning were particularly amazing!!
Of the 3 days I was here, the emergency department was consistently very busy. However, everyone works very quickly and efficiently. Waits can be long for some but i think the team here triages very effectively. Overall, thank you all!
Fracture clinic Terrible service, not proactive and extremely conservative recommendations on whether to get surgery or not. Have been walking with a broken collarbone for 2 months(!!!!) now and I have just been kept pushed around.
Highly recommend only using this hospital for the diagnostic equipment they have and get specialized recommendations and advice elsewhere.
Recently had to attend ED after a fall skiing. It was a really busy evening due to multiple patients and the care was fantastic. The staff were really great and it didn't take to long to be seen.
I was offered sandwiches and a drink during the evening and pain relief on arrival. Considering how busy it was I was really impressed with the level of care and service.
I can't speak highly enough of the ED department - such a wonderful caring team, especially Dr James, Annabel and Connie. I was so grateful for their compassion towards me and the pain I was in. Exceptional ED department.
