Meh... The waiter did not want to come to my table and started taking to me from a 5m distance. His English was so bad that he didn't even understand that I have given him a tip. Kudos for bringing me a normal European coffee and not the watery liquid they serve in the Netherlands.
The place does not even deserve 1 star. The weitresses' personal hygiene leaves a lot to be desired... dirty nails with old, half missing nail polish. Unfresh, stinky and undercooked fish. After returning it and a discussion with the chef I was offered another fish dish, which looked and tasted horrible. Actually I could not say or taste what was inside and was rather scared to keep eating unidentified chunks of sth. The dish price was ONLY 19,50 euros... Staff unpolite, treating customers as if they were not welcome. The "restaurant" owner should close this place and never ever "cook" again.
I guess I have never felt this discriminated in an intracultural Belgium. As I visited the Beaufort Exhibition with a friend, using world's longest tramline, we wanted to have something traditional to eat here. It was about 1PM when a rude waiter walked over to our table and told us the kitchen was closed. We were wearing hiking shoes and nose studs. Maybe he was expecting chiquer customers? Though no dress code was mentioned as far as I know, he had no right to throw us out this way. It wasn't until we went outside that I realised others were eating and it wasn't even 2PM yet. My friend didn't want to make a fuzz about it but I decided to go inside and let him know I understood what he did. When he saw me coming inside he was clearly stressed, not to mention when I asked him what time the kitchen closes ... anyway, nervous as he was he told me the kitchen closes at 2PM, and than added that it's complicated or something cheap like that. I believe this was very bad-mannerd and disrespectful. Others were eating, the place was merely half full and the electricity was working. No excuses possible. Also to new people taking place to a table next to to us he didn't say anything about a closed kitchen, and they were clearly hungry! He could at least offer some snacks, as they do everywhere in Belgium, IF the kitchen would be closed. But no, we clearly didn't answer his standards. Some people don't even care about how they make someone else feel by their attitude. But at least I hope his boss is reading this, because I strongly doubt someone owning this place would treat customers like this. Yes. He should be fired. I worked for more than 10 years in f&b industry, never have I treated someone like this. Shame on him who was working there april 3rd. Also I hope people will read this and will agree with me that Belgium has no place for this kind of discrimination. And also the local tourist office shouldn't recommend this place anymore, as long as they don't change their service.
A place to go for a coffee and a quick bite to eat, €10 for a ham and cheese toastie and €2.50 for the coffee, i thought was expensive, but perhaps that's normal for Belgium?
Dirty, unfriendly, overpriced, outdated.
Only good for a drink with view on the beach.
Good service, English language available, beer good , food ok
Not a nice place.! It is dirthy. Outdated. Not friendly. Don't go there!
