We stayed here as part of a 13 day European Motorcycle Tour and it was a very special treat. The historic Chateau and surrounding grounds are fantastic and the spacious rooms with tall ceilings and windows were like no hotel that I've ever had the pleasure of staying. In the evening we enjoyed a lovely three course meal in an impressive stone walled and timber dining room. U.S. Forces used this Chateau as Command HQ's during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944. That held some personal significance to myself because as a young man my father's Division took part in the Ardennes engagement 78 years ago. I highly recommend a stay at this wonderful Chateau.
We had our marriage here back in 2015, it was simply great, very friendly and helpful service, garden, banquet room and dancing hall were beautiful and correctly sized for our 75 person party. We can't recommend it enough!!!
Very unique experience. It was great having the opportunity to stay in a beautifully renovated castle. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The castle grounds were very well maintained and the exterior of the castle was beautiful. We had one of the castle rooms. It was not large, but was adequate for two people. There was a small refrigerator in the room, which was nice. The breakfast in the morning was plentiful and very good.
We booked 3 rooms - 1 superior and 2 standard. The superior room was TOTALLY superior - we had A12 and just wow!! The size of the room, the facilities and the comfy bed was very much worth the extra. I can honestly say that the bed in room A12 was so comfortable we honestly slept as good as we do at home which is so very rare to find in a hotel. Our parents stayed in B9 and B3 (both in the annex), the price of these rooms does reflect the quality compared to the superior rooms in the castle however, the rooms are clean and adequate. All rooms fridge was replenished daily with two bottles of spa water plus tea and coffee was also replenished daily. Personally I would recommend to always book rooms in the castle over the standard rooms in the annex. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The P'tit Auberge for dinner is also very nice. Chateau de Harze is excellent for exploring the Ardenne and if you happen to be visiting Spa Francorchamps circuit it is about a 30 minute drive. We experienced a slight glitch with two of our family who arrived late to check in but I can honestly say that the hotel staff have been more than helpful and efficient at making sure the inconvenience caused was sorted out appropriately. Huge car park! I would not hesitate to book Chateau de Harze again or recommend it to any of my friends and family. Thank you very much.
Really impressive historic building with an amazing amount of preservation. Fabulous grounds in an idyllic country setting. Rooms were clean and comfortable, with excellent beds. Breakfast was first class with loads of options and warm reception. This is a quiet hotel and lacks some facilities a traveller might be accustomed to. Odd opening times in the restaurant for June. That being said, I recommend a stay for the country Chateau experience. Loads of food options available a short drive down the road in Aywaille town.
Beautiful and calmed place, historical hotel. Good breakfast. Comfort rooms. Great nature around. Recommended for relaxing trip. You can go every day to explore a new route to hiking. In de next near city, Aywaille there different good restaurants. I recommended visit this place in autumn.
Although the outside of the hotel looks very much like a medieval fortress, the actual rooms are very modern. None of the castle motif was really continued into the rooms. In fact, there was nothing to distinguish our room from any Hilton or Sheraton offering other than the 15+ foot ceilings. But the room was clean and comfortable and the view from our room of the tower and fall foliage was quite stunning. Found a plaque mentioning the U.S. presence at the Battle of the Bulge, including a meeting with Eisenhower.
Visited the chateau de Harzé during the F1 WE in Spa. Had a BONGO bon. Location is easy to find and he castle looks nice from the outside. Enough parking close by. Reception can be reached after taking two steps (no elevator). We were greeted in one language, French. No attempt to speak another language (Dutch). The lady who did the checkout spoke Dutch after hearing our 'accent'... . Room 10A is on the second floor at the end of the corridor. Next to it is the assembly room of laundry etc. The room is large and clean. Bathroom could use a refurnishment as some of the features in the room. No airco. Coffee/tea and a small fridge are available in the room. Room is very illuminated due to lights that illuminate the castle. (got better after sunset when lights were switched off)||Breakfast is nice and is served in the tavern near the entrance to the reception. Choice is rather limited but taste was good, with some nice bread.
