These people are horribly slow!!! I had called in for takeout, they said 15 minutes- I went after 20 -30 minutes and the food was still not ready!!! I waited additional 30 minutes!!!
Inform the customer if the kitchen is busy or the food will take a while!
Very disappointed!!!
I would like to order again but they have done this several times and it is not nice! Very disappointed with the service! They don’t know how to treat people.
When i asked how long - they kept saying “5 minutes” and i never got my food!!! I was mad and walked out.
Mishap in management and communication!
A lovely Chinese restaurant located in Jersey City. I've been there twice, once with some work colleagues and then with my wife. I'm both of the visits, the food was great, with a generous size. We've had dumplings, scallion fried rice, vegetarian beans and the fried chicken - all of them were delicious. Service could be a bit better - no one was asking about our experience - but still a great place.
Ordered the take out via Uber eats. The taste is good. However the ribs are all bones or fatty which is not edible so have to throw away. I’m concerned about the quality of the meat.
I must say: this is one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve had in a while. I’ve had Chinese food my whole life and I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. The service was attentive and there’s even a pianist playing live in the background. Every dish I’ve had here has been phenomenal. I would recommend against take-out, as the dine-in experience is best. Price are a bit steep for this type of cuisine, but worth it regardless. Highly recommend, especially if you love spicy food as the majority of the menu is spicy (hunan and sichuan).
Never to return. Traveling solo on business I visited this establishment near my hotel. Upon entry I was politely greeted and presented my table and a menu. The menu selection was very impressive with multiple pages with diverse selections.
Unfortunately I it went downhill from there. The service was far below anything I have experienced in recent years. Little if any attention other than that required to take my request. Once presented I never saw the gentleman again. My requested drink was never delivered. The Positive was the entray, Preserved Pork with smoked Bamboo shoot it was delicious. Having completed my meal I waited, my hands folded on my lap, for an extended time until a staff member asked if was finished and proceeded to take away the service. Another new person dropped off the bill, I presented my card, it was processed and then literally dropped at my table never seeing the person who presented it. I had so looked forward to a pleasant enjoyable dining experience like the many I have had in China. What an extreme disappointment! I strongly recommend Take Away (Take Out) and avoid the staff.
The interior of the restaurant was so welcoming along with the live music! We were seated right away and I was so overwhelmed with the huge selection of items. My favorite part about the menu was even though it was so overwhelming, there were pictures included to help narrow down what catches your eye.
We started off with the pork belly with garlic sauce and it was so tasty. I am still craving it right now! The freshness of the cucumber just pairs so well with the pork belly.
We also ordered mapo tofu and scallion dish with chicken because they’re my top go-to comfort foods. It was delicious with the chef tan styled fried rice we ordered. The dish came in style. It didn’t just look good, it also tasted good.
Lastly, we got the monoglian beef and it was so delicious. I prefer sweet meat over savory and this hit the spot. It wasn’t overly sweet, but just the right amount.
I’d definitely recommend trying Chef Tan! It’s a 2-3 minute walk from Newport PATH station and Newport centre is a short walk as well.
Great experience overall. Food was fresh and served quickly. The service was great considering we had a big party. Would 100% recommend for both Americanized Chinese food and traditional Chinese food.
The chonquing whole tilapia was out of this world! Comes with spicy sauce and lots of vegetables. Also enjoyed cumin lamb. Don't bother with scallion fried rice--I didn't see any scallions, but the rice was green (food coloring?!). A nice, airy dining area is a plus. Kitchen closes at 9, so late diners only have takeout option.
