We visited this newly opened Mediterranean buffet today. The food was excellent. If you like Mediterranean food, then you will absolutely love this place. They had very good Kabob, Kibbeh, and other meat options. Their salad options had some very unusual but delicious salad. I wish they will do a more rigorous advertising to attract more customers. We found it by luck as we were driving through that area, otherwise we wouldn’t have heard of this great buffet place.
I recently visited this restaurant, a buffet-style restaurant, and was left thoroughly disenchanted by my dining experience. For a buffet priced at $24, the variety of dishes was alarmingly sparse. The highlight of the meal was supposed to be the lamb leg, which was advertised as a specialty. However, upon arrival, we were immediately informed that each person could only take one. Disappointingly, out of my party, I was the only one who managed to get one. The others were told there were no more available, yet, perplexingly, the staff managed to find more for other customers shortly after.
Besides the lamb leg, the buffet mainly consisted of chicken and fish dishes, which were underwhelming considering the cost. Furthermore, the carelessness in the preparation was evident when we found that the tomatoes used in the dishes still had their stickers on them. This oversight raises serious concerns about the hygiene standards in the kitchen.
Our dining experience was further marred by what appeared to be a stingy and dishonest approach by the establishment. We dined well before the closing time at 9 PM, arriving just before 6 PM, yet faced such limitations and inconsistencies. It's hard to justify the operation of a buffet restaurant when it seems reluctant to provide an ample and fair dining experience for all patrons.
I am truly disappointed and believe potential customers should be wary of these issues before deciding to dine here
1. After we entered the door, we asked if there were lamb legs. The waiter never answered directly and told us that lamb ribs (cheaper than lamb shanks) taste the same as lamb legs, and then we planned to leave. As a result, the waiter said there were lamb shanks and served two of them to me and my friend. When we wanted a third leg of lamb, the waiter said it was limited to one per person and there was no more leg of lamb. It would take another 2 hours to roast it. We believed it then.
Then, about 10 minutes later, 4 people came in to eat, and the waiter brought them Brother 3's leg of lamb. My friends and I thought it was very weird, why did you lie to us that there was no leg of lamb? Is it possible that there are lamb shanks in the kitchen but they are not served to us?
Why is the limit of one lamb shank per person not written on the restaurant’s price tag? Does this restaurant think consumers are easy to cheat/trick? Moreover, there are very few other types of food and no beef. I repeatedly stressed not to ask for ice in my drink, but the waiter still wanted to add ice to my drink. We all know ice costs nothing, right?
2. The waiter said it was purely halal. As a Hui nationality, I can tell you that the meat of your lamb leg is dark red, which means that the blood was not drained before cooking. In authentic halal practices, the blood will definitely be drained. So, neither is the food quality. The chicken legs were bought from Walmart, as were the schnitzels. There was almost no meat and they were all flour.
Will never come again. I think $24 is not worth it for such a service attitude and deceiving customers. Highly not recommended.
My wife and I decided to try something new in our area, a place we’d never been before. We stumbled onto this restaurant and all I can say is….WOW!! This is some of the best food we’ve had, ever! The flavors of the Mediterranean cuisine did not disappoint, it was authentic and a delight to the taste buds. They service was exceptional and the buffet style offered many options to choose from. We are definitely self appointed food critics when it comes to eating out, and this place deserves a solid five stars!! Highly recommend Chef Maleks!!!
This is probably the best place in town for meat lovers. Great selection of meat dishes, kebabs, salads, and such. Price is 24 + tips&tax for adults, 6-13 for kids, but you do get what you pay for as there's lamb, fish, beef, chicken and that drinks are included. Food is great, very welcoming atmosphere. I am still in awe of how many times the server asked me if I'm doing ok/if I need anything/if I need my plates taken. Though I find it great, I can definitely see it being a little overwhelming for introverted people.
My family went here after graduation, and it was $24 per person for the buffet, while for kids I believe it was $12.
I loved the lamb dish and the eggplant one, but the chicken and beef were pretty basic. There were a few different types of rice to choose from which were all pretty okay. The baba ghanoush was delicious too, and I recommend you try the lemonade.
I wish they had a pita or naan or something, they just have dinner rolls, which I don’t prefer. Also, if you have allergies/serious food restrictions, I do not recommend going here, as the way it’s set up there’s more than likely some cross contamination.
Also sometimes the platters run low, but it doesn’t usually take too long to get them refilled, and the waitress is really nice and will let you know if you’re waiting for something.
Overall quiet and nice atmosphere, hasn’t been too crowded that I know of.
This all-you-can-eat Arabic buffet for $24/adult is inarguably the best ayce buffet in Lafayette. Newly opened, the restaurant was empty when we ate but the food was fresh and hot. Everything we ate was delicious and included perfectly cooked beef, chicken, lamb, and fish. There were plenty of lentil, eggplant, and rice-based dishes suitable for a filling vegetarian meal. The service was also amazing. The staff is genuinely interested in providing you a good dining experience. If you like Indian or Mediterranean food, or like a great-quality meal, you will like Chef Malek’s restaurant. The only thing I would have enjoyed more about the experience is if the food were more consistently labeled, as there were some dishes I did not recognize. However, the staff was happy to show each main dish to us when we arrived. Don’t skip the desert and tea at the end of your meal!
Very tasty. The service was excellent. They were quick to correct my dish with the meat of choice. Very co-operative.
