I order two Big Buford combos tonight medium with 2 Cokes, 22 dollars and change. I was shocked when after waiting behind two cars I reached the drive thru window, the cashier leaned out the window and had tattoos and piercings all over her face. Some piercings were dangling out of her nose that looked like silver drops of snot dripping out. Lost my appetite immediately.
On my way home a grabbed some fries from the bag. The fries were only just warm and tasted of old oil. I live less than ten minutes away. When I got home I took a bite of the burger. Again I was sorrily disappointed, the bun was soggy, the onions were old and limp, the chopped lettuce was brown and translucent, the tomatoes were soggy and translucent and the hamburger patties were cold and seemed dried out and over cooked. It seemed the worst Big Buford I have ever had. I used to order several Big Buford combos a week, sometime every day of the week. In the 90s and 00s Checkers was excellent. Due to poor management of these Checkers restaurants I maybe stop when I am at the S Woodland Blvd location it is pretty good. All the others are not worth stopping, I no longer go to the DeLand, Orange City, either of the Daytona locations because of poor service and bad food. I might give this location another try because my first visit 4 month ago was not too bad.

This was my first visit to the New Checkers in Deltona. I didn’t see the $10 off coupon on your first visit on Google maps. When I arrived the parking lot and parking area was clean everything like a new restaurant. The general manager took my order and suggested the big Buford combo. I ordered the big Buford combo regular size. My order was ready when I reached the window and there were no cars in front of me. The Coca-Cola was awesome and the brix mix appeared to be 5 to 1 or 5.5 to 1 and not water down. The season fries were just warm obviously cooked ahead and waiting for the next guest. The fries tasted good and appeared to be cooked in new oil.
The big Buford Burger had two beef patties and two slices of cheese. The patties were warm and juicy but not hot. The cheese was melted. The lettuce was soft and not crisp, but not soggy. The tomatoes were soft and appeared to be sliced sometime ago. The pickles and onions were crisp and crunchy. The bun was soft and warm.
The food was good and the service was great. I will return to this location and give them another try. Much better than the Orange City or downtown DeLand locations.
I usually order daily from this checkers location, usually drive thru and sometimes DoorDash. In this instance I ordered DoorDash and this is burnt burger is what they sent me. Absolutely disrespectful. Corperate needs to set some real standards. SEVERLY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!
Dude who took my order was so freindly and cheerful, so that couldnt' have been better but when we got our fries they were put in the bad such that they fell out into the bag when it was handed out the window, I asked for extra napkins and since there was 2 of us and got a "look" from the girl. We drove off and the fries were not the hot delicious crispy fries I had gotten last time that were really delicious. They were hot and soggy... so greasy the bag quickly discolored from the grease... dripping grease. I have called 4 times to arrange a refund of the $8+ dollars for 2 fries but the call just keeps cycling and cycling and then hangs up.
NASTY... NASTY food this time. I'll just save my bag. I can't get through after 5 calls... I WANT MY MONEY REFUNDED.
Hello thanks for replying back. I have it 3 stars because the food was just okay. Your staff at this location are very kind, seem as if they work as a team but still have fun. So I wasn't critiquing the staff just the food was just alright. But your crew there was fun and helpful. Seem solid. Thank you for your time.
Employees and management are incompetent and unable to properly use the pos system to split payments accordingly. Instead of figuring it out they turn customers away. It's a bad look to have Employees that are unproperly trained. Especially management. No one knows what to do. Disappointing.
The food here is amazing. Unfortunately they only prioritize drive thru. The last two visits I didn't order because they wouldn't take my order inside. The first time I waited 10 minutes then left. The 2nd time I watched their TV screen and they took a cars order that was there after I arrived. Then another car pulls up and was helped within 10 seconds even though I've been standing inside for 5 minutes already. I left again. Both times was around 8pm when they weren't busy. Unacceptable.
Let me start with I am a DoorDasher. Their poor design makes us pull in a very tight space on the passenger side of our vehicle. Most times I am by myself making it incredibly complicated to get the food in the first place. Now this checkers is hands down the worst I’ve ever been too. They ignore us delivery ppl. Tonight over 10 mins they ignored me even after beeping my horn. I get fed the excuse they’re training new ppl. Ironically I’ve seen everyone in there before, multiple times. I’m then asked to park and walk up cause yep you guessed it, they haven’t even started the order!!!! As I’m standing there someone pulls off from the window and the only female, I’m guessing shift lead, then says f you man that’s the third one tonight I don’t understand why they keep doing that. I said really, maybe it’s because of how long you’re taking to do their orders!!! Avoid if you can this place is a complete joke.
We normally order the Classic Mother Cruncher, the Double Checkerburger with cheese, and the Triple Smoky BBQ Bacon Buford. Their mozzarella sticks are our favorite!!
For dessert, I recommend any of the three flavors of their delicious cheesecake sundaes. We loved the apple turnovers, too!
The service at this location is always great and fast.
