I’ve ordered from here several times since coming to Richmond these past few weeks but this last order made me feel like I was ripped off. I paid 32.44 for a large oxtail dinner with cabbage and plantains took get all the way back to work and see that this isn’t worth 32.44 I have 8 premature baby oxtails charged 1.50 for plantains and they are supposed to be a regular side not premium side. This is crazy
Ordered the curry goat with coconut rice, cabbage and chickpeas as my sides. The service was great and food tastes really good too. Would definitely recommend!
This is exactly the kind of place I like to eat: unpretentious with delicious and filling food.
Server was very pleasant as well. I like that they have a beach dj on the tv but that is beside the point.
I’m not familiar with the Caribbean cuisine, but as an outsider to this food, I found it really delicious and love the blends of spices and flavors, which feel so nutritious and filling.
Pictured are the curry chicken (my fav) and St Lucia roasted chicken though I actually ate the beef patty. Next time I would get the curry for myself bc it was really tender and incredibly tasty. Highly recommend.
Some of the dishes are sort of spicy if that’s your thing too such as the omg tomato salad. However it is different than just hot sauce spicy but more nuanced and complex a flavor somehow— I’m not a chef but this chef knows what they are doing.
Also very affordable. You get a lot of food for less than $15/20 person.

I had the veggie bowl which was red beans, spinach rice, cabbage and carrots. It was crazy good, love the spices. Definitely going to be my go to place when I am in town.
So delicious! We came in after the typical lunch time (around 2 pm) so it wasn't crowded at all, but based on the taste, it should be busy all the time!
I got the curry chicken bowl with coconut rice + cabbage/carrots. It was all so delicious! We also split a beef pastry thing... Can't remember the name, and it was amazing as well. The meat was all tender and seasoned to perfection. The cabbage and carrots were the perfect crisp addition for the meat and rice. I managed to finish everything and I will try to make my way back in the future.

This place exceeded my expectations! Everything tasted so fresh! I ordered Ox Tails with coconut rice, cabbage, and plantain. If you want delicious Caribbean food, visit Charles Kitchen. Run don't walk!
If all you care about is the food Charles’ Kitchen is a hidden gem and worth a visit!
We ordered the St Lucian Herb Style Chicken. OMGoodness DELICIOUS! Although we have less than a 5 for the Atmosphere the setting merged perfectly with the Food. It’s a 5 with flip-flops and a bikini cover up! We will definitely come again????????????️
Phenomenal St. Lucia chicken. Moist and flavorful. The cabbage and carrots, red beans, and rice were delicious. The chef came out and asked if we liked our food and we could only give 2 huge thumbs up! Delicious food and great service. The guava punch is top notch! Can't wait to go back.
