Juuuuust enough parking spaces when I go but it looks like they doubled the cost of the first hour you start paying (3rd one) from 75 cents to 1.50 this year.
The first few days at the festival the staff weren’t present. I payed at the bottom of the stairs with my card. The 3rd and 4th day something changed and they wanted me to pay 15$ cash each day. It’s 2022 I don’t carry cash like many others! The lady wouldn’t allow me to pay with card like I did the day before. I had to use an atm from across the street! Bad experience overall (Ps. Fix your elevators they don’t work.)
Easy in and out. Some spaces are marked for permit only as well as no van or suv or truck parking. The day I was there, it was pretty empty. Cash or charge accepted when departing. There were no attendants the day I visited. Very close to downtown Royal Oak. First 2 hours are free. Also well lit.
Absolutely horribly set up. I don’t know if it’s the machines, the people monitoring the garage, or the structure itself. We went to a festival in downtown Royal Oak, attempted to leave, and the entire parking garage was backed up. We waited an hour in that mess, finally decided to park again and call an Uber with a plan to go get our car the following day (this was decided after my husband walked down to the bottom and saw one of two people “monitoring” the garage petering around in their car). While we waited for the Uber, we finally saw cops come to stop people from coming into the garage and block traffic. Aaannnddd now, two hours later, we’re back in the parking garage trying to get out, currently on level three.
Oh yeah, and we lost our ticket to get out. I guess that doesn’t matter though, because none of their machines work to pay them.
This parking garage is well situated in the Downtown Royal Oak area. The only issue I have is with the pricing. I wish the first two hours were free no matter what time you started parking like in Birmingham. Having to pay $5 if you just want to pop to somewhere close for 30 minutes or less is highway robbery.
This place is convenient and clean. But it sucks when you part on the 6th floor and elevated doesn't work. They probably should charge you $5 instead of 15 for the inconvenience.
As far as parking garages go, this is a nice one. The location's great with plenty of space to drive up and down levels, which are well marked. I like that there are doors on all sides of the structure making easy to get in and out from any direction.
Free parking for the first 2 hours
