Best WLM Reviews
We started with the Calamari and Conch Fritters. The Calamari was good, maybe could have been cooked a minute or 2 longer. It would also be really good with a Creole sauce versus the marinara sauce. I would go back just for the Conch Fritters they were that good. I'm a Florida native and have not found Fritters I have enjoyed in a long time. These had nice pieces of conch and were not under or over cooked which seems to be a hard thing to master in a lot of restaurants. These were cooked perfectly! I ordered the Trio for lunch with fried Grouper, Shrimp and Clamstrips. My sides were fried Okra and Collard Greens. Once again the seafood was cooked perfectly. You should know the shrimp are a wee bit on the small side. The Collard Greens has a smokiness to them and the Okra was yummy with a side of ranch. Amanda was our server. She was knowledgeable and willing to answer all of our questions being our first time there. We appreciated everything she did for us and will make sure to request her when we go back.
Classic Seafood. Have never had any issues with food quality. The portions have not changed the entire time I have eaten here. The prices have gone up a $2.00-$3.00 dollars for the Shrimp. Only change is they used to offer a smaller option kind of a lunch size for dinner, but don’t anymore. One of the only places in town that the price reflects the serving size left in Gainesville. You will leave full. Dating myself here, but have been coming to this place for 15 years. My Granny and Dad loved coming here. Many family birthday celebrations. Service can be hit or miss as far as personality , but you see the hustle and effort that most of them have. They are working and not on their phones or just standing around.
????????????
This place gets the 3 fire salute ????!
We have eaten seafood for many years all over the USA and I have to tell you...
YOU DON'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS!!!
Starting off I want to give our server Amanda props! She was fantastic! True veteran to the Restaurant Business!
And for the food...
I want to challenge you to find another place this good.
Sorry to disappoint you, but I know you won't find one!!!
Perfect cook on all items!
The best Conch Fritters, Calamari, clam strips, fried grouper, scallops, fried okra, and most of all the coconut shrimp with creamy coconut dipping sauce ????????
I had the Big Mate's Platter - A hearty serving of Fish, Shrimp, Clam Strips, Scallops, plus 1 Deviled Crab and choice of TWO sides.
Mojo had the Cedar River Trio -
Choose THREE: Fish, Shrimp, Clam Strips, Deviled Crab or Chicken Tenders and choice of TWO sides. (substitute oysters, scallops, or gator tail.
INSIDER TIP!!! - TRY THE LIMA BEANS AND YELLOW RICE. (I never liked lima beans in my life and couldn't stand them. But Amanda recommended them and I will eat these every single time I come here. They are phenomenal and so so delicious! Might even have changed my life!!! Who knew lima beans could be so good. I always knew they were good for you but not good to eat until now!!!
Enjoy!!! ????
The food was absolutely amazing. I had the fried catfish, gatortail, shrimp, french fries, coleslaw, and absolutely loved the starter dip that they give you with the crackers. The servers were all very kind and fast and the atmosphere was pretty cool because it felt like a lvintage seafood place Inside, although it is in a modern plaza. The other place that I like is really far across town but I am often not too inspired to drive 20 to 25 minutes to go get it. This place was just six minutes up the road, it will be my go to seafood place from now on.
Best seafood I have come across in the Gainesville area. Went on a Sunday afternoon very busy but service was on par. Lots of food everything is so good!
First time visiting was on Good Friday and it was packed but we were able to get a seat pretty quickly. Service was great, food was yummy, and the price was decent. Will definitely try again. I had paddock-grilled or blackened (can't remember exactly) which came out perfectly and the stewed okra and tomatoes were so good!
Stopped here for lunch from Jacksonville. Good pick from the husband. The food was really good! I ordered the Flounder Fillet (fried) with smashed sweet potatoes and fried okra. The food came hot, not greasy and delicious! (Sorry, I didn't take a picture), but I did take a few shots of the appetizer; conch fritters, and a few menu items. They need to put that smashed sweet potatoes in a pie!!! Great flavor ✌️I recommend and if we're this way again, this will be another stop! ????
I've eaten here for many years. I don't eat much fried food at home so that's what I get here. I think their breading is perfect. Some places use too much breading. The food quality is good and I can't eat everything. Service is good. I appreciate getting a drink refill when mine is low. The atmosphere is plain Florida seafood place as it should be.
