1st time eating here. I had the calamari and Eggplant Parmesan with angle hair pasta. It was super good. My daughter had the chicken Alfredo..noodles were good..but the chicken was really dry. Overall a good experience
Nice clean restaurant with friendly helpful staff. The stuffed peppers were excellent with some heat in pepper and sausage. Had the blackened salmon that was very good with good portion size. The food was fairly priced for the quality and size. The restaurant was slammed and we still received drinks and food timely. Will go again to try something new.
My wife, daughter (16), and i visited after daughter's indoor track meet at YSU. Saturday night around 6pm. We had to wait 5 minutes to be seated so not bad.
I got the Francesca chicken ($16.99), which only came with the chicken, mushrooms, and broccoli (they ran out of asparagus). No pasta. Iordered a side of small spaghetti ($4.99).Came with a small side salad. Had to ask for bread, which was cold. The chicken was delicious. Water to drink.
Wife got gigis aglio olio with grilled chicken ($19.98). The chicken was a little bland and dry. Pasta was good. Water to drink.
Daughter got penne Alfredo with grilled chicken ($18.99). She liked it. Water to drink.
Place was a bit loud but to be expected for a bar type. A little busy too.
Overall, the food was fine. A little pricey for what you get. Total for the 3 of us: $69.14 paying with credit card. Cash option, you save a few bucks.
Was in there this past week. Service was good. Food was outstanding. There were 4 of us, all first time there. We basically ordered sandwiches. The fried cheese was really good. I ordered the Penguin Burger, very flavorful and cooked to perfection. 2 OTHERS in my party ordered the chicken parm. The chicken was moist and the breading was very flavorful.
The final dish was Italian chicken sandwich. Once again very moist and flavorful.
We all will definitely be back. Can't wait to try the pasta
The MVR is a Mahoning Valley classic. They have a variety of Italian specialties ranging from pasta entrees to sandwiches and pizza.
I went with the Meatball Splash, three sizable beefy meatballs sandwiched between two slices of Italian bread covered with provolone cheese and liberally doused with the house red sauce.
If you’re fortunate enough to have Antonio as your server, you’ll find out how wonderful he is. If not, ask for him if it’s not too busy or you don’t mind waiting, because it gets crowded on the weekends and there may be a wait to get a table. If so, grab a drink at the front bar, or head to the back and watch some spirited bocci games.
One of my favorite spots in Youngstown. The new building for their bocce courts is beautiful. Nice bar in the back also.
Came here on a Wednesday evening for dinner. The food was great, but the portions were so small. Got stuffed shells and they only give you four. The only positive was that the price of the food wasn’t that bad. Seemed like only one server was working and serving all of the tables at the same time too. Would return for Bocce, but definitely won’t return for the food.
