The name of the restaurant now is called El Taquila. It is fantastic. The guy, I think his name is Samuel, that runs it, really knows what he is doing. I just posted some pictures of the steaks we ordered. 10 Ribeyes. They were awesome!!! Cooked to absolute perfection. If his other food wasn't so good , I would tell him to be a steak restaurant! Sorry Paducah steak places....you just aren't keeping up. Head to Metropolis to El Taquila Mexican Restaurant, next door to Sonic and across from Fort Massac State Park. By the way, at the time of this posting, that steak dinner was $12.99!!!! Yeah!
And now it's Feb. 2nd, 2022, and we just got another steak. It was STILL cooked to perfection by the same man! I wanted to add this reposting because it was so good. I'm not sure, but I think the prices went up a dollar. With the price of beef at the store, it's cheaper to let them cook you one!
An absolutely beautiful place to go dine at. Service is wonderful, food is fantastic, couldn't ask for anything more from a Mexican restaurant ♡
The food is delicious. You can't walk away hungry because the serving are large. The servers are excellent. This place is a must try in Metropolis, Illinois. The food is served hot, sizzling hot.

Not the greatest food this time. My daughter couldn't eat her chicken and rice because it was saturated in their cheese. My friend didn't have enough cheese on her food and very little veggies. It took an hour to get my mom's dessert and that's all she ordered. My friend's son ordered chicken tenders which they burned. Server was decent. Mostly kids running it. I've been here many times before. It was much better then.
The food was sooooo good. Huge portions, reasonable price. Doesn't look like much on the outside but inside is really festive with awesome authentic decor. Really impressed.
Horrible food. I came here on a Thursday night at dinnertime and it was empty. The chips were good. The salsa was heated up so it tasted like marinara sauce. I came here with a group of people; we all got something different and no one liked their food. My boyfriend asked for two different things from the menu and they didn't have either one, so he didn't get anything. The steak in the steak quesadilla was old and dry, and the cheese they used on everything tasted like old plastic. The refried beans were definitely from a can.
My beef taco was okay and the vegetables were fresh. My friend liked his margarita and ordered another one. The wait staff seemed attentive, but probably because we were the only ones there. But when he brought the food, the waiter didn't seem to know who ordered what.
Excellent food! Great service! We were out on bikes and HOT! I jokingly asked for a HUGE tea. LOL WE GOT OUR TEA IN A GIANT BEER MUG and we all laughed! Great server with a sense of humor. BEST MEXICAN FOOD EVER!
