I attended this restaurant for a Birthday dinner on a Friday night. We were a pretty large group of 18 but we were very much aware of how important it was for our entire party to be on time otherwise we wouldn’t be seated. We were reminded of this SEVERAL TIMES before our reservation. What we WEREN’T told is that when you have a larger group you get a smaller menu!!! This was very disappointing as most of us looked online and already knew what we wanted before arrival and NONE of the items we desired were on the condenses menu! We came to this same restaurant, with the same amount of people last summer and this was not the practice so I’m assuming it’s a recent change. However it was definitely a change we should have been made aware of before arrival! We asked the manager if he could accommodate those of us who wanted to make selections from the regular menu as a courtesy since we weren’t advised of the change, and he refused!!! He stated the condensed menu is to ensure we don’t have a long wait for our food and to not congest the kitchen. Ha! Lies! We still waited over an hour for our food AND BREAD!! Once the bread arrived it was burnt and several meals were lukewarm! One of our guests asked why her rice was mushy and shrimp lukewarm and the servers response was “we can have it remade but it’s the end of the night so it’s probably not going to get much better than what you already have”.
I’m so disappointed!!!
The ONLY reason why I give this restaurant 2 stars is because the cocktails were good. Too bad we didn’t get a good meal to enjoy them with!
Our family went to Carvera to honor a family member that has chosen to join the Coast Guard. The Oakwood Florist partners with Carvers. There was a beautiful floral arrangement from Yhe Oakwood Florist waiting at our table upon arrival.
Carvers is very dimly lit. (It's a good thing I checked out the menu prior to arrival.) We were seated promptly at the time of our reservation.
The service was amazing. Johnathan, our server, was attentive and very friendly. Our glasses were never close to empty.
ALL of the food was amazing. There wasn't a complaint about any of it. We had appetizers, entrees, and dessert. Leftovers were boxed and bagged for us.
Come here Thursday to Sunday for the prime rib. Everything else is also well made depending on your tastes, but why switch away from the favorite? Now, I have a massive pet peeve when a restaurant that commands +$30 average per person and that is “wear.”The floor carpet is showing its age, and some of the booth seats are in need of repair. They survived Covid, but have yet to take down the ugly wood panels. Why is there a table directly in front of the turnstile, if you don’t want to use that door anymore, just block it off as an emergency door! It’s obvious this place has its own clientele and they will come here regardless; maybe in a few years I’ll revisit.
We came here for our 4th anniversary and had an excellent time here! The food was fantastic, portions were generous and our server was extremely attentive. We may have over ordered but everything was delicious. Starting off with their stuffed portobello mushroom and french onion soup, then I got the peppercorn NY strip and my fiancée got the ribeye and we were both extremely satisfied. Finishing up with a huge cappuccino and their Carvers chocolate cake it was an excellent evening. Highly recommend and I look forward to returning!!
There were 5 in our party on 5/11. We arrived at 4:30pm. Not a busy time at all. However, from the beginning I felt very rushed by the waiter. We had brought my mother-in-law for an early Mother’s Day dinner. In times past, everything has been excellent… Not this time. My husband and myself felt like our steaks were absolutely horrible. No seasoning at all. The literally tasted like just cooked meat. The bruschetta was so hard, my goodness. I definitely felt like we didn’t get what we paid for. It’ll be a long time before we go back.
We got the calamati fritti as an appetizer. This was easily the best calamari we've ever had. Incredibly latge pieces of meat, delicious garnish and seasoning.
Spinach salad with honey mustard. Very subtle sweetness to the honey mustard
Chicken soup was piping hot and loaded with shredded chicken.
Bread was made in-house and had an excellent crunchy shell with soft interior. Delicious
The steaks were cooked to perfection (medium-rare) and were incredibly high-quality cuts. Both could be cut by a butter knife. The sides were great as well. Bacon Mac n cheese, and au gratin potatoes.
We finished with the turtle cheesecake.
Everything was excellent and EXTREMELY reasonable for the quality of food given. We will be back while we are in Dayton.
the spinach salad is so awesomely good god i can’t get enough of it. i think about it when i go to sleep and it’s the first thing i think about when i wake up in the morning. if i could marry a salad this would be the one. i want to inject the salad dressing into my veins. i would sacrifice my newborn FOR THIS SALAD. i feel like almost tearing up when i think about this salad. i refuse to eat any type of salad. i am going to get a plate of this salad and put it in resin so i always have it with me. i will be buried with this salad. the rest of the food here is great. but this salad……this freaking salad….. i wouldn’t live in a wold without this salad. i have finally found the love of my life.
The food & service were absolutely fantastic!!! We will 100% be back soon!!
