Very good espresso drinks. The flavor is strong and well balanced. Nice atmosphere as well.
This is specifically about the 5th St location:
The Coffee and atmosphere is still great, but they changed the pastries selection, it's not as good as before. The food options are very limited, and usually run out before noon on weekends.
Also, the free wireless is extremely unreliable. Most of the time you will not be able to connect, so if you are planning to stay and do some work, this is not the place.
Nice atmosphere. Good coffee. A lady asked to warm a pastry and the answer was “we serve it at room temperature “. No, you help your client enjoy it. Service should be better than this.
Pretty standard coffee shop. Drinks are slow to come out and at the time of my visit the location seemed understaffed. Seating inside and a cover alley way to enjoy your drinks and snacks outside. The coffee was pretty good. A nice place to grab a cup of coffee and relax. Parking is tight in the area.
Stopped in quick to get a couple of coffee drinks, ordered an iced caramel latte only to find out they do not carry caramel so I ordered an iced mocha and it was pretty good. Service was good, fast and friendly. Store had a very relaxed atmosphere.
Cartel feels more like a hipster hangout than what you think of as a quintessential coffee shop. Lots of young professionals working away and beautiful art work throughout. The menu is fantastic and has drink that you will not find anywhere else. I got the iconic tonic. Quad espresso, seltzer, lime leaf tonic and grapefruit. Sparkling jet fuel (yes please). Check out Cartel, you won't be disappointed!
Super friendly place, out of oat but was able to try something new instead! The cashew milk was really a great option and now I know I love cashew milk too! Sit and sip or play some chess while you enjoy your coffee and pastry
I love Cartel and have been going to their cafes + recommending them to others for years. I’m the biggest fan of their espresso drinks and have tried other items from their menu, which are OK. However, their take on matcha has completely irked me.
I understand that Cartel specializes in coffee, but their matcha offering is completely unacceptable for any business. I ordered a matcha latte this past weekend and it was essentially a glorified $7 cup of milk. The drink was completely pale in color and tasted like pure milk. I wish I had spoken to the staff about it because they really should not be serving that kind of quality in their establishment. It really irks me that they think it’s appropriate to essentially rob their customers by serving up a cup of milk with a dusting of matcha and charging almost $7.
I advise anyone who wants great quality matcha drinks to stop by Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko in Tempe. Their matcha drinks are actually vibrant green and have a distinct matcha flavor. I highly recommend their matcha latte with cheese foam.
