Best WLM Reviews
As an ardent admirer of authentic Italian cuisine, my recent dining experience was, unfortunately, a disappointment. Let me delve into the specifics:
Spicy Lentil Soup:
The spicy lentil soup, intended to be a delightful starter, missed the mark. It suffered from an overabundance of sausage and seasoning, which overwhelmed the delicate balance of other ingredients like the broth and lentils. The result was a dish that left much to be desired.
Chicken Parmesan with Mashed Potatoes:
The chicken Parmesan, my chosen entrée, fell short of expectations. The chicken tasted as if it had been frozen and reheated, lacking the freshness one would expect. Additionally, the Marinara sauce was scarce, rendering the dish somewhat bland.
On a brighter note, the mashed potatoes provided a tasty respite.
Service:
The service at the bar was satisfactory, with no complaints or issues.
We were super excited to get to go food but they completely fell flat. It didn't seem like they gave the effort in any of our to go meals. Lobster ravioli barely had any sauce. We got the Tuscan breadsticks tower and there was no flavor whatsoever. The cheese sticks seemed to be microwaved. Two lasagna dishes were the size of a kids meal at best. The price for 4 meals and two apps was high and all of them were less than mediocre. We all said cafeteria food tastes better.
We will have to go into the restaurant next time and see if the food is the same. Such a shame as this was one of my favorite chain restaurants.
Convenient Location to ‘Old Florida’
We were in St. Petersburg for a few days in honor of our 50th wedding anniversary. After being museumed-out, we chose to spend our last day at the Sunken Gardens, one of the ‘Old Florida’ attractions.
What a find to see Carrabba’s conveniently sharing the parking lot of the gardens. Around lunchtime, we decided to do takeout back to our Airbnb.
We were warmly greeted by the hostess who went to find Zoe, the takeout coordinator. She was just awesome and perfectly suited to her job: kind, warm, bubbly and knowledgeable about the menu.
Since it was a Saturday, the lunch menu was not available so we asked for her dinner recommendations. She presented three options and we decided on the “Chicken Trio,”( Chicken Bryan, Pollo Rosa Maria & Chicken Marsala), choosing a hearty chicken soup with pasta and nicely-seasoned broccoli as our sides.
Zoe was also helpful in mapping out driving directions to the MAACM (Museum of the American Arts and Crafts Movement) also on the same street as the restaurant.
Our order was well-packaged and stable in the sturdy paper bag for the rest of our day.
We split the entree between us with some left over for the next day. The soup and broccoli were delicious as was the chicken. I would order this combination again.
Zoe and the Carabba kitchen staff helped make our last day in St. Petersburg a memorable one.
Celebrating a birthday with mother-in-law. Took her to the gardens and she wanted Italian for her birthday meal.
Can;t go wrong when the re's an Italian restaurant at the gardens. Perfect.
Great service and always very good food.
I always get the chicken Bryan as I love the goat cheese on it. My other half can't seem to get away from chicken Marsala.
Excellent service today for sure.
I was really hoping that the lasagna serving would be a bit more size-able. I’m not a big person nor do I have a huge appetite but I was quite disappointed at the serving size I got for a $20 price tag. Compared to the other dish of the same price there’s quite the difference.
Susan was a wonderful server! The birthday party was a large group of 20 and everyone’s meal was perfect and she had lots of helpful suggestions and information. Her happy attitude really made our evening!
My broccoli was a mushy, un-yummy low point to an otherwise delicious meal. Our server was attentive and courteous and everyone enjoyed their dinner. We had a large group but they seated us quickly and managed to get all of our meals out together quickly, too. Plenty of free parking too.
Walked in at 130pm, saw only one table of 5-6 adults eating. No other patrons insight. One person bartending. No hostess. Waited ten minutes for four other employees to come out from the back, including hostess. Told it would take at least 20 minutes to seat our party of 5 and get a server (of note, we have three school aged kids).
Seriously? With nobody else waiting to be waited on, the only other guests already seated and eating? It takes 5-7 minutes to clear the table and get waters. I know because I've done it a thousand times. Next time, just say you want to be lazy or don't want to be bothered to serve us.
We walked across the street to Outback. Seated in less than 20 seconds. Amazing service and food there.
