Carl's is THE place to go for authentic Jamaican food in southern Florida, HANDS DOWN! I only get to enjoy Carl's once a year when I come to visit, but if I lived here I'd be eating Carl's probably twice a week, no joke! The oxtail with rice and peas with steamed cabbage is the best thing I've ever eaten!
Carls used to be my go to place, but they won't get my business anymore. Went online before going knowing their prices had increased. Online menu showed Jerk pork for $6.67. Got to restaurant and asked server if the jerk pork was lunch price. She confirmed it was. Got to register to pay, informed price is $13+. Questioned price, server claims she misunderstood. Get home to discover rice not fully cooked, and pork portion mostly skin and fat. Money down the drain. That's it for me. They are continually going down. From the prices, bad food, false advertising, and flies around the food, won't return.
I usually come & the food is great today it was disgusting the chicken was COLD the rice was reheated with a very old smell. I get the same thing everytime I come & today it was an issue about gravy portion I was ordering for multiple people so I allowed them to continue for the rice to be old and stale and the chicken ice cold un heated I originally should’ve left but they had already made the rice and chicken honestly next time I won’t care I usually come later in the day that’s all I’d advise because the food I had today was stale
Love carls since high school days. Never had a bad experience when eat from there. Last time was through uber eats had Callaloo dumpling festivals, breadfruit mannnn and a ackee meal,best breakfast yet!! Don't play with carls!
I’ve been going there for years! Moved away for a while came back and it did not disappoint at all. Now that’s consistency!!! And the service actually got so much better than what it used to be so that’s definitely a plus. I only wish they still that lobster/shrimp in garlic butter sauce lol but times have changed right.

I came here following a horrible experience at another local eatery. Queenie provided us outstanding service. She was not only polite and courteous, but highly resourceful. She gave us an overview of the menu and the best options to select from. We were satisfied and full when we left.
Nasty rude people.The soup was very cold,no meat at all.I call same time they said bring the receipt and come on tomorrow.Never stated to bring back the water of the soup.The rude staff continues to argue with me over the replacement of the soup.She said she only returning the small meat of the soup ,not a complete soup That's so disgusting, unethical and rude.If I never drive so far for my daughter for the festival and jerk chicken.I woulda curse them out proper.Very rude and should not be serving the public food.The coworker stated if there is no meat ,how can she serve it.Terrible disrespectful ???????? people who need to be train how to deal with customers.Not respectful at all.They treat customers like crop,and very argumentive,as well.Especially, a so call American who working in a Jamaican restaurant should be train better.Now they loose a long time customer.This was the same reason,I stopped coming because of stale rice and peas. They refused to correct the issue.I got money and she last the curry goat sale for this night as well.
Second time here, but first time eating here…
First time walked out because food looked old as if it’s been there all day.
Second time which happens to be tonight, I went there because only Jamaican restaurant nearby opened late, and again food looked old as if it’s been there all day… tasted horrible wasn’t at temperature, just every bad ordered oxtails mini plate and I won’t be back and won’t recommend at all. Disgusting place rice wasn’t cooked completely had a crunch to it and not even that was at temperature literally nothing was at all, not even mid warm. They didn’t even have to nerve to put it in a microwave and I know the temperature wasn’t warm when I received it because I tasted it as soon I got in my car… didn’t eat it actually put it into their trash can.
