The visit to the Lodge was to meet up with family not seen in many years. Although the weather was very spring like it was not good for snowshoeing or cross country skiiing. The trails were too soft for hiking. Nevertheless we enjoyed ourselves walking the roads, watching the skiers and taking in the sites and the Gondola ride up to the restaurant for lunch. The lounge area was rustic with a nice huge fireplace and complementary coffee. There was a small gift shop too. Moguls restaurant was good but not open everyday. Our room was an Alpine Elite and we had a view of the mountain and outdoor pool area. The smell of chlorine was strong in the hallway as our room was above the indoor pool. The smell thankfully did not enter the unit. The unit was spacious enough for our party of 5.
We decided to Ski for Spring Break and we’re thrilled to have lots of snow! Lodge was nice, kids loved the pool. We will plan better for meals next time now that we know what is available. Breakfast waffle bar was scarce, would like to see juice or milk for kids and fruit toppings for waffles.
We brought our one year old and traded off skiing, which was mostly lovely! The ski facilities were awesome and the indoor pool was great. The service and the room itself were both lackluster though, and even when we asked the front desk for a highchair (twice!), we never got it, even though there was a first come first served note about it in the room. That and the mattress was broken on one side. Maintenance people thankfully did come to check that one but then lo and behold! No mattresses anywhere on property. So we slept on the couch the second night, which was better than the mattress, but still killer on comfort after skiing.
Wow. Stayed in unit 122 and the views are amazing. This is an end unit that faces Lake Superior and Moose Mountain. Moose Access ski trail is literally right below the side window. Walk down the stairs and you are literally standing on the ski trail. This updated unit is very nice and sleeps 6. Best of all, it is pet friendly. You can request units when you call the resort. Do that, you will not be disappointed.
I wasn’t familiar with the area at all when booking our trip. The location is AWESOME for the kids (teens) to ski in/out on their own. We stayed in the main lodge with adjoining rooms - they were beautiful! The lodge building seems new/remodeled - the rooms and lobby, restaurant, bar etc are very modern and clean. Staff all around was great!
Ideal convenience to the ski hill, and comfortable accommodations that felt like home after a long day. Our condo had a beautiful view of Moose mountain with a balcony. The lodge was dog friendly so it was so nice to have our pup along!
The townhomes were great. Slept a lot of people! My only downside was that some of us are beginner skiers and the 'ski in/ski out' advertisement seemed somewhat misleading..........it was very difficult for us to figure out HOW to get to our unit. No signage and once we did figure it out, we had to go down BLUE runs to get to the lift that would take us quite high and then have to ski down BLUE runs to get to a bridge that went 'near' our townhome. You still had to walk about a half a block in ski boots in 18 inches of snow to get 'home'. Not a huge complaint, but we did end up having to have someone drive us up to the main chalet and pick us up for each of our morning/afternoon ski events.
It is a great hotel in a wonderful landscape!
It is a good place to visit the North, especially Grand Portage and Grand Marais and another beautiful National Parks and waterfalls!
It's a good idea to visit it in Spring time!
