Went to this establishment having a bad experience before, giving a second chance went back tonight ordered 2 8 piece shrimp the large oxtail double mac side of cabbage spent over 60 dollars thinking this will be a better experience manager or owner don't know, came out intoxicated talking to associates as if their price hacking per customer telling the cashier "get him babe" I was engaging with the cashier and fellow workers seems comfortable. Waiting on my food, still expecting my order to be good, asked what was the difference between the oxtail and the large oxtail the gentleman ensured i was good , going back and forth from the sheet that's placed between the lobby and the kitchen. I got home and was very disappointed got oxtail and very small oxtail and not that many. Paying the price I paid is very ridiculous. If this is the management, you guys should reconsider if this is the owner business not going last. A one star couldn't give a 0 because I couldn't leave my comment. Great food, terrible management.
Let me first say that I have this place a chance to redeem themselves. I stopped by yesterday around 12:30 since I was coming from an event in Chicago I decided to stop and get something I can’t get close to home.(I live in Minooka so that you have a better understanding ) I chose this place because I have had the food on multiple occasions and it’s always good and fresh however I’ve never eaten at this particular location.
I ordered the salmon dinner with yams and Mac n cheese. As well as a 6 piece jerk wings.
When I got home I took a couple bites of the salmon and it was crusty, the top layer was hard and it was a lil chewy vs flaky so It’s my belief that it was over cooked.
The yams were cold the Mac n cheese was room temperature but the rice and beans were still warm. Now I live about 35 min from this place but hear me out, I would think the sides would have some temperature consistency so I figured they were serving yesterdays sides and had not heated them up completely however they tasted ok so that wasn’t a big deal for me. Oh and the wings were really small but any who.
I called to let the young lady know my dilemma about the The salmon, and she asked me to bring it back now as stated previously I was riding through on my way home. That’s the only reason I stopped to get food, so I really didn’t want to go back and drive 35 minutes to take the food back and 35 more minutes back home. So she asked me to bring it back the next day, because I knew I had to go back to Chicago for my church second service I said OK.
Now I accidentally left the saved salmon sitting on my counter this morning, so on my way from church, I Stopped to get the salmon replaced, She asked me where the food was and I told her I left it at home. She proceeded to go on the back and came back and said she couldn’t replace it without seeing the food first so I FaceTimed my 8 yr old daughter so that I can let her see it to prove it was never eaten etc. after showing her the food whomever in the back decided to replace it.
Now I understand some people mess complaints up for others but My problem lies in the fact that I drove back this way, and still had to prove that I did not eat the food even though they knew I was taking a long ride to get here and the fact that I did not get to enjoy my entire meal on yesterday, so I never even finished the sides and I came all the way back out here to get my food replaced and all they gave me was a piece of salmon. I know some may say well that’s what I complained about but I personally feel like they should’ve replaced my meal to its entirety considering I had to come all the way back up here for 1, 2 in the rain, 3 again it’s far from me. Lastly I was going to purchase more food today because my family wanted it for dinner but after the way I was serviced I decided to keep my coins and I will never visit this location again.
I do believe the way that cook the salmon at this location needs some work cause it looks a lil better today but it’s still over cooked. I’m really disappointed and hope some changes are made because I really like to see black owned business thrive as I’m a business owner myself.
1 last thing, the lobby needs to be cleaned up.

I’ve never done this before, and so I’m a bit nervous because I don’t want any backlash.
I was so appalled that I HAD to write a review. I was picking up lunch or maybe an early dinner after leaving base for drill but I really wish I had not gone here! The food smelled good, but absolutely did not taste good, my chicken was undercooked but it was caked with probably a glass bottle of pre-made jerk sauce ???? since I ordered a 6-wing dinner, I was able to choose 2 sides. I chose cabbage and plantains . The cabbage not only tasted like canned cabbage, but whatever they seasoned the cabbage with or cooked it in, tasted like campbell’s chicken noodle soup ????… not to say Campbell’s is bad, but when you’re eating cabbage, you expect it to taste like cabbage..
I didn’t even try the plantains, because I was just too nervous and didn’t want to be disappointed again . All of the dinners come with rice and peas, but for some reason, my rice was way below tray level and drenched with artificial gravy. How do I know it was artificial, because it had that commercial dark gravy color and it was too thin - everything about it was commercialized. Like I said, my chicken was undercooked. You can tell undercooked chicken because it was tough to pull apart from the bone - AND THEN they set the wings in the drenched with gravy “rice and peas”. If I wanted jerked gravy wings, I would’ve ordered that, is all I’m saying. This restaurant makes me think of Americans trying their hardest to make Caribbean food, but not doing so well…it appears the restaurant is currently undergoing a transition (BTW, it used to be named Kingston’s)…maybe this was just a bad day for them…????????♀️????????♀️ man of man, y’all just don’t even know how disappointed I am. Wasted $27 and still gotta find something to eat… ????????????????????????????????????
I ordered jerked salmon, candied yams, and plantains. The food smelled so good in my car I wanted to pull over to eat it on the side of the road. When I tell you it was "slap your mama" good! OMG! Sorry no pics. I dug in so fast I forgot to take one.
Told me the order would be ready for pick up in 30 minutes. Got there 45 minutes after placing the order and it sti wasn't ready. Waited an additional 20 minutes. This chain of restaurants are ridiculous with the value of their customers time and its overpriced for the amount of food they give you. My large cabbage and mac n cheese wasn't even filled to the top of the container and the 1/2 white was so small. I only had one wing in the order when I should have had 2.
I stay up in this place they salmon dinners are good and the salmon pita is on point too. the jerk shrimp pizza is great too. Lisa and Mahogany are the best on the front end they have patience and ask the cooks abt things if they aren’t sure themselves. It’s another girl there Mariah or Marie I believe, she cld go for a little more people skills and also I wish she wld fact find a little more wen she’s nt sure if they have smthn n stock or not. I called n a order and she told me without checking that they didn’t hav pizza I gt there to pick up the rest of wat I ordered i reasked abt the pizza that’s when she decides to ask the cook and guess what THEY HAD THE PIZZA ????????♀️ she gne say “ Aw my bad order it tomorrow “ like girl wat? It gave ghetto and no accountability. It’s dark skin guy cook. wen he’s there my food be extra good, Thanks King. Overall this spot is alright wit me and me and my family will continue to be loyal customers I’m jus the type that’s gone call wen u doin good bt also wen u doin bad I’m very transparent. I jus ask tht everybody b on the same page wen it comes to the pizzas in the future.
The food (jerk chicken) is good, but the place is a dump inside. A fight broke out inside between the cashier and a patron. Nothing serious. So get your food and leave immediately. I’ll go back to eat the jerk chicken, there is no dine in, it’s all carry out. The jerk chicken is the best I’ve had in the area, just wish they’d clean it up a bit and make it more accommodating even if you don’t dine in. I’m giving 3 stars only because I think they can improve the appearance inside, im not complaining about the food quality.
They have a menu with no prices,That was the first red flag....Wing jerk dinner 25$ cabbage was bland,Mac& cheese was just ok chicken was a little undercooked....rice was bland with no flavor at all,Sauce was good and the bread was fresh,The cashier was the best part of the experience....She was nice and very friendly ???? I had the taco on pita bread!!!! Now that was life!
