Best WLM Reviews
When I was discussing the menu I asked about a soup but didn't say I wanted it and when we finally made our decision I let the person know I wanted only 2 items and 2 drinks and was told the food would be out in 20 minutes. It was almost an hour before we got our food and I looked at my recept and seen I was charged for the soup I only questioned about and I just decided to let it go but I was almost about to just ask for my money back since it was taking too long. Finally our food came out and both soups were not hot but the fish was hot. Before getting the food an individual came in complaining to the cashier that he was charged for something he also asked about just like me and that's when I noticed the same happened to me I was wondering why my amount was so high and $25 for a small bowl of soup and fofo is way too much and mind you I was charged $25 for each of my soups. After eating we asked for a container only to see it was dirty with an old recept inside and the salt shaker had a dead bug in it....I will not be going back. They are friendly yes but they need to work on time management and also need to show prices on their menu and pay more attention to cleanliness.
Dined here about 4 times, and I’ve always been so happy each time. So much flavor.
The first time I came here was last year, and my friend showed me the ropes. Since then, I’ve brought my friends here. Every time, so many people take out.
I always like to try new things but there are 3 things I always have to get. Fufu with whatever soup they have that day. Attieke with snapper. Chuck rice with chicken.
Their full menu is not always available. They let you know what they have. I’ve tried their egusi, pepper, cassava, and goat soup. Every one at my table would have their favorite one, so I can’t recommend one more than the other. Egusi is probably the most unique though in terms of texture and flavor. Fufu comes out HOT so be warned. We let it cool down a bit and it’s a lil less sticky and more manageable. Every soup usually has different types of meats and lots of bones (like turkey neck), so be careful there too.
Chuck rice with chicken. The sauce is amazing and the chicken is fried so well that it stays crispy under all the sauce! I definitely have some fufu with the chicken here too.
Snapper with attieke and plantains. Attieke is as unique to me as fufu is. And it has so much flavoooor. Snapper is a whole fish, fried to perfection. This comes with a mayo salad sauce type thing.
There three entrees are usually more than enough for a group of 4. With a water bottle (they don’t do cups of water, I think), it adds up to be about $25-30 a person. And we usually have enough to take home for one more meal.
If you want, I also recommend their ginger juice. STRONG ginger flavor. It warms you right up. I imagine it’s great for my stomach after all the palm oil and spices.
Other tips: They got a hand washing station for hygienic fufu eating!
I enjoyed the delicious Egusi soup w/FuFu. The staff was friendly and the cook brought out my order, that was very hospitable. The atmosphere was cozy and nice. Thank you for the delicious taste of Africa. I didnt even finish my food half way.
I haven’t tried African cuisine before (from any region) so this was completely new to me. I decided to be bold today though and try it so I got what seemed to the most popular dish according to the reviews, the palm butter soup and fufu (option 7). I was excited and nervous to try it but to my pleasant surprise, it did not disappoint one bit!!! It was amazingly delicious and packed with flavors and spices. The meat was juicy, tender and cooked just right. I’ve never had fufu before either but I can only explain it as a mushy masa texture and flavor (like what’s used for making tortillas from scratch). Maybe like the texture of matzah ball? Not really sure. It doesn’t have much of a flavor but thats what make it perfect with the palm butter soup!!! I broke it off with my fingers and dipped it into the soup, and that was *chef’s kiss* 10/10 would recommend and will definitely be coming back here when I’m in the mood for a warm, flavorful soup!! So glad I decided to venture out today :) the customer service was great too!
The food here is amazing, the lady I’m guessing the owner is super nice and will tell you what is what if you have questions. The fufu and soup are a must have whenever you visit there are no words to explain how good it is you gotta try it to see why it’s so amazing. The red snapper and plantain are also so freaking good like anything you get on their menu you’ll love and big portions of food, just remember if you’ve never had this type of food ask for recommendations as they use amazing spices to make the food taste out of this world. This is my go to place from now on.
The cashier (we didn't get his name, so sorry but he was a young man with dreads) was amazing. We told him it was our first time trying this type of food and and he was super helpful and very nice. The food was great. We got the Egusi and Fufu as well as the jallofa rice and both dishes were amazing. We didn't get to thank the chef as they were closing but let us stay to finish our food. Would definately go back and try more dishes. Thank you all for the great service and food ???? also, I only got a picture of the egusi and fufu I forgot to take a picture of the rice.
For anyone wondering if the food is good or not, I hope this picture answers your question.
Omg my first time here, had the fried Okra soup and rice boss man said it was freshly made and can I say very mouth watering and flavorful I loved it,i will be back to try everything on the menu ???? thank you ????
