We entered and the noise level was loud. So we asked if we could sit outside and happy we did. Others came out and told us they wished they’d been outside where the noise level was lower.
The seafood platter was OK but not the best I have had. The salad was good for $3 more and the potato salad was good.
This is our first time here and we came because of the reviews. So maybe my expectations were too high from reading them.
My wife got the Cajun shrimp and scallops which she liked and said was good not too spicy but flavorful.

Tried this place for lunch and we really liked it. Food was fresh, the haddock is their most popular dish so we tried it grilled, fried and in a sandwich. Service was great, our server was polite, and made good suggestions.
We even had dessert (good chocolate cake)
I ordered chicken tenders,fried shrimp
And a crab cake sandwich. Tenders were over fried and crab cake sandwich the inside is so mushy and the outside was burnt. The bun overpowered the crab cake way too much bread. I have to say the fried shrimp was really good. I was a little upset that I did not get any utensils or napkins since I'm out of town and driving to another state I was in a hurry and I should have asked.
But I was really looking forward to the crab cake sandwich and that was the biggest disappointment.
Great food and service, their lobster roll is delicious. Other friends had grilled seafood platters, and they loved it.
10/10!!! Excellent quick service and everything was delicious. I went with the fried seafood platter. You could tell all the seafood was lightly hand breaded. The scallops melted in your mouth like butter, haddock was perfectly flaky, and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. Not a teensy bit overdone.
The staff was very attentive, didn’t have to ask or wait on anything!
Definitely stop and give them a try. You can’t go wrong with anything!!
Nice bar, good atmosphere. I went for the whole belly clams, admit they are hard to find in SC. The clams were good but could be great with a little more batter and fried more crispy. For 6oz of clams they charged me $30. My next craving will take me to Joe Loves!
Update: I went back and had the whole belly clams with more batter and crispy they were great! Priced at $29 for 6oz.
We had fresh haddock dinner with potato salad and rice. It was all delicious. Their rice is spicy and delicious and the potato salad is the best. Also had lemon pepper chicken over rice which was tender and juicy. We have ate here several times and it has always been delicious. Good price and fast service. Haddock is delicious.
Very much worth the trip to Captain John's.
We had the seafood combo which consisted of whitefish, Shrimp and scallops. We also had a fried oyster sandwich with dirty rice and we also had a Philly cheesecake sand.
All delicious!
