Amazing BBQ, Ginger Cucumber Lemonade was fantastic! Brisket baked beans will be best you've ever had! Price $7-20
Stopped there for lunch today with the family. I don't consider us to be BBQ aficionados, but we thought everything was outstanding. Probably the best food on our trip so far. We had the pulled pork, wings, baked beans mac and cheese and rolls. Thought the pulled pork was amazing. Their sauces were great. Especially liked the apple and smokin'. Wings were really good and so were the baked beans. Mac and cheese was decent. One thing we really loved also was the apple butter for the rolls. In hindsight, should have asked if we could buy some to bring home. Service was great as well. Great gem in the middle of nowhere. Highly recommend it.
Interior of building was very well done and nicely remodeled. Staff friendly. We had brisket, pulled pork, Mac and cheese and French fries. Pulled pork was ok. Fatty, and not trimmed well. Mac and cheese was good. Fries OK, but covered in black pepper, which was just wrong. Brisket not trimmed at all, and didn't pull apart when stretched like great brisket should. We appeared to get a cut from along the grain of the fat cap, not nice meaty slices. Tough. Should have stayed in the smoker for another 4-5 hours. Very underdone for brisket. Received a second slab when we said our first piece was all fat. Second piece not much better. Sauces on tables are not homemade, just different purchased sauces doctored up, if at all. Was excited to see a new U.P. establishment, but very disappointed. Maybe they've just never had great BBQ?
We stopped on our way through town and we were quite surprised to find a great BBQ in the middle of nowhere. The meat was a bit fatty but the sides were to die for. Homemade and traditional. The cornbread was AMAZING! The service was beyond exceptional. They welcomed us and gave us the low-down! If I'm ever in the area again, I'll make a stop!
Stopped here on my way up to Marquette. Had the half order of brisket and it was amazing. Their seasoned fries were good too. I wish I could have eaten some other items from the menu but I'm rarely in the area. People who complain about mac and cheese and fat on their slow cooked meat at a barbecue restaurant don't know good barbecue. Pricey but in my opinion worth it. Need a liquor license but I cant mark that against them.. Will return.
Best BBQ I have ever had by far. The feel of the place was amazing. The owner helped us and was so nice. And all the food we ordered was great. Really good prices too. We were on vacation when we went and will be sure to stop again next year.
The food was good and the place was very clean looking. However the food does not deserve to be called Barbacue. They cook their meat in an OVEN, then put a variety of sauces on the table for you to add flavor. No smoker, no cooked in flavor. The sandwiches were nice, just not barbecue like the sign an name says.
We were starving while out exploring the UP on vacation and drove past Campfire BBQ and decided to stop for dinner. Beautiful clean interior greeted us. Pulled pork sandwich (loved the bread!), baked apples, mac n cheese...everything was great! We highly recommend.
