This place has great food. From chicken nuggets, fries, and fish, but it's at such a cute spot. Cornered on a bridge and small, but man does this place have history. Only downside was that it was kinda cramped inside and cash only. However, there was an ATM but it's dicey whether it works or not.
Feel the need to boost your rating during this time of rebuilding. New to Chicago last year we found you and loved the garlic salmon and the shrimp... absolutely the best! A stop here for great smoked seafood should be on the list of any visitor to the Chicago area! Now a permanent resident we plan to be back once you reopen! We cannot wait for that day! Thanks again.
Delicious fried fish dinner. Friend had fried catfish. Dinners included fish, French fries, Cole slaw along with sauce. They'll ask hot or mild sauce or both. Grab some napkins which are in container on counter. Go ahead... eat your fish dinner while its hot ... where? at the tables outside; room for 4 or 5 to sit at the two tables. You will see lots of people eating fish in their cars. Calumet Fisheries in business for 75 years. Same owner. Support small business
Hidden gem! The BEST smoked fish I’ve ever had. The staff is extremely pleasant. And man, it smells AMAZING in there. Highly recommend the smoked salmon with garlic and black pepper and also the smoked shrimp. YUM! Can’t wait to go back the next time we’re in the Chicago area!
WOW! This is absolutely worth the drive from Chicago!!! They only take cash- Note, because I never carry cash. We love the off the beaten path places like this. We had the fried catfish & fried shrimp dinners. They were delicious! We bought smoked salmon & trout to go. We love smoked fish & no better place to get it than here. Out back there was a young man chopping wood and tending to the smoke house. We ate on the picnic tables there and watched the sailboats come in down the River. The bridge even goes up to let them by. We will be back again soon! It’s a must stop if coming home from Michigan or Indiana. Make an afternoon and visit Big Marsh as well!
Very good smoked fish! We ordered pepper and garlic salmon and eels, and both were pretty good and delicious. The fried shrimp was also large and crunchy. Since we forgot the bring cash this item, we used the ATM inside - it charged $3 fee for the transaction... Please make sure to bring cash & don’t use the ATM.
Absolutely the BEST smoked fish! Located on the Calumet River at 95th Street, this place is a legacy! Great staff and fair prices. The only thing missing is a dock…. Calumet Fisheries is only 11 miles from downtown by boat!
The people who works there is so kind. He explained to me with patience since it's my first time there and refer me to which one is the popular selections. I was able to order smoked salmon with black pepper and garlic, smoked shrimps, deep fried shrimps, and deep fried scallops. And you can see they r cooking my orders too !! So cool !! The smell inside this place is like in heaven lol I can smells the smokiness from the back, omg. It smells so delicious. Can't wait to try them !!!
