Best WLM Reviews

I really like this place, especially when we can eat outside. The food is tasty, the portions are big, there are good beers. The house wine is bad, though.
Simply perfect. Good food, good service and ambiance. Good alternative to Nero
We've been coming here for 12 years, and it still remains our favourite restaurant in our neighbourhood in Jezus-Eik. Prices increased significantly since but still remains in the market range. We paid in average 20,5€ per main dish (counting kids dish as half price an adults dish) and 4,5€ per drink. and indeed they charge extra for ketchup (1,65€) and extra plate (1€). I share the opinion of reviews about rude manager, depending on situation and the day! Ignoring that aspect the place has several advantages such as huge eating space, kids play area, quick service, large and well presented dishes often combined with small salad (in ribs, stoofvlees etc) and it tastes delicious and always consistent.
Enough. This place used to be a really lovely, relaxed location to wander onto the terrace after a superb walk in awesome nature and sit right by the forest to enjoy a coffee, a beer and/or a decent meal. It's 100% the best thing about the place. Inside is not very accessible to daylight, quite frankly.
The problem is the manager. He prefers to choose for his customers that they sit inside in the dark rather than outside in the fresh air. He is willing to lie to your face about the reasons for this, telling you with a deprecating smile that it is too risky for his staff with the 'changeable Belgian weather'. This a lie. Today is the third time I have found the terrace closed for this stated reason, yet the weather was fine on my last visit and today the forecast is "Partly cloudy and dry. No precipitation chance". As a reviewer remarks below, "It was a sunny Sunday afternoon.. we were accommodated inside".
No, the real reason is that the manager is a control freak. He used the pandemic as an excuse to close off the terrace with wooden palettes and No Entry signs, but has chosen to retain these restrictions ever since. There is no earthly reason for an eatery of this type to have a sign to wait to be seated. Why can't you simply pick a table? It's not the Ritz! The reason is to prevent people from sitting outside by choice, but rather be forced to sit in a stuffy window-less room as this is easier him to manage.
The manager unfortunately runs the establishment for his own benefit and convenience, rather than that of his clientelle. I won't be back.
L'Auberge Bretonne, nearby, has a large terrace accessible from the woods as well.
It was a sunny Sunday afternoon. The place was busy but we were accommodated inside. We had crepes ice-cream and coffee. Everything was very nice and good. The place is just at the entrance of the forest.
Disgraceful behaviour towards minors. I was here with my friends and we bought fries, an apple cake, and water. Firstly, I got 20cl of water when normally you get a bottle. Insane pricing. Had to pay the same for one glass of water rather than a bottle. I had to pay an extra €2.50 for ketchup, while yesterday the ketchup was free. Secondly, they told us to move out the way to serve others although I was waiting for my apple cake. Had to be reminded about the cake and they gave us a different order. They swore at my friend (13 years old) and very impolite. Overall, this restaurant has overpriced items and rude staff. Do not recommend.
For a cafetaria its outstanding. Very good value for money. Good food, big portions for a decent price. I do not compare this with a restaurant but with Brasseries and Bistro types in the same region.
Super cafe at the edge of wood. Really nice, quick service, if you want a beer or a brasserie meal and huge portions. Water bowls for dogs!
