Best WLM Reviews
Cabana Blue has a very impressive lot overlooking Lake St Clair. It’s right on the water and has a pier allowing boat docking. The decor had a very fun theme.
The service was very friendly and quick. The drinks were strong and the Smashburger was incredibly tasty. While it was rather empty on a Monday in the off season, I could see this place being quite the attraction on a hot weekend day.
The hush puppies were very dry and tasteless. The menus were very sticky to the touch where I felt like I needed to wash my hands after placing my order. And, the non-stop country music was very out of place.
Came here for graduation dinner. What a disaster. Waited the hour wait, understandably busy because it was nice out so it was what it was. Once we finally sat down, they were out of diet coke, fish, chicken, steak...I had never experienced anything like that. I previously worked in the service industry for 10 years so it was pretty mind blowing. They never forewarned us of these 89'd items prior to ordering. They sat us outside knowing damn well it was about to storm, the manager should have came outside and directed us to move inside to a table. Actually, they should have directed the hostesses not to seat people outside. So in the midst of a heavy down pour trying to grab all of our belongings and food while a guy was holding the door shut where we could hardly get in through the small gap he left open telling us to "hurry up", we helped ourself to a table so we could actually eat our dinner. The hostess comes over and says, "that tables reserved". Like....are you serious? Do you not see the monsoon outside? What would you like us to do...stand and eat? We asked for the manager and the manager blamed the lack of items on the busy day. Even with a busy day...all of the above should not have happened, poor excuse. She blamed the hostess being young as the reason she told us we couldn't sit there and she was just doing her job. It's just common sense if you look out the many windows they have there, age has nothing to do with it. Poor management overall. Was complete chaos and will never be back.
The environment here really is incredible. It’s absolutely beautiful and has a vibe that is fun, inviting, and full on summer! It also looks like they’re in the process of adding an outdoor bar, which will be amazing!
The food is really good. The specialty drinks were not super amazing. They were also overpriced. That was a bummer. I did get the spicy margarita, which I did like, but that was still underwhelming.
The smash burger is out of this world!
I went to Cabana Blue for the first time. It’s a place I definitely want to return to. They are located right on the lake, with lakefront seating available. If you have a boat, you can dock next to the restaurant too. The night we went there was an 80s party going on. We had delicious drinks and food. I love that they offer a gluten free bun for the burgers and sandwiches.
Very open, great view, adequate parking, food and drinks were phenomenal. We went for brunch in January, but it was still comfortably warm inside.
Prices were fair. I got the chicken and waffles, I was told waffles were imported from Belgium then deep fried and drizzled with honey. They tasted as if an elephant ear and a waffle had a baby. The chicken was tender and juicy, while the breading was crisp and flavorful.
I'd love to go back and try their dinner.
As a side note:
The bathrooms are very well kept, they are up front in the vestibule. The tables are all tall with bar height chairs, wouldn't be very wheelchair friendly, cushions are comfortable though.
My friends and I walked into this restaurant at the tail end of a bachelorette trip. We came back up from Detroit to support a local business. Immediately upon entrance, we were given rude looks from the staff at the host stand. No one greeted us and I caught them talking about us under their breath a few times. I understand we were a group of 14/15, but we were quiet and respectful as we walked through. We went to the back bar & one of the friends handed the bartender her Pennsylvania ID. The bartender would not serve her because she “did not know how to read out of state IDs”. A few of the girls in our group were out of state, coming in just for this celebration. We also talked with another bartender and manager who said they would not serve us with out of state IDs. And none of us could be served, even those with Michigan IDs. We were very nice during this whole exchange, but the manager immediately gave us attitude. I’m not sure if they thought the IDs were fake or they just didn’t want to serve a bachelorette party, but that was it.
We waited to see if they would change their minds for a bit, they didn’t. So we of course left.
We went next door to Island Grill who happily took our IDs and served us kindly. They were so welcoming and ready to help a big group! They also told us they’d had a customer who was refused service at Cabana Blue due to having a new Michigan ID. Seems concerning that they can’t keep up with the current IDs even in their own state.
I would not recommend Cabana Blue to anyone—so many other delicious places to visit around here!
It took 45 minutes to get our food.. My husband orders a medium well burger and it was quite pink. My brisket tacos were ok but cold. Now I'm screwed. I will have to continue to cook at home because my food is better. This review will not affect their business because it is on the water. If you need a kitchen manager I can help you! By the way it is only May and boating season not even started!
I was blowed away with the Beautiful Veiw ????
Great Atmosphere, their Specialty Cocktails are impressive ????
The flavor with their Pulled Pork Sandwich was Incredible.
I got the Beach Bum ⛱️ ???? and loved the Presentation and they are not selfish with their alcohol.
I will definitely be back and share how fabulous it was.
I also would like to note we had very large groups and the orders came out very timely which was great because it was a busniess lunchen and most of us had to get back to the office.
