People were friendly. Our experience with the boat rental is a different story. The only good thing I can say about that boat is it mostly did the job. She was in bad need of a dry dock to have the haul decontaminated and repairs. All the button labels were missing and she was literally falling apart while we were using it. If we were paying half price I wouldn’t have minded but we were paying full price for a garbage barge.
I do not recommend renting boats at the marina.
We came before the season opening, so most of the shops were open for a shorter window. However, the staff were extremely helpful, opening shops early for us and greeting us with a smile. Great place!
Came in the off season for a boat rental for myself and my dog. The staff was really thorough in making sure I had a great day at an affordable off-season rate. You can tell that the marina is a bit short staffed, but those who are there (Melissa, Tage, Sarah, January, and a few others who I forget) do all they can to get you out on the water. Was nice that they also had a dog life jacket available for use.
Overall I really enjoyed my time there and hope to come back in the future.
Even with the low water levels, we still covered 100+ miles on the lake and had a great time.
We rented a speedboat and spent some time on the lake, which is beautiful!
Though there were several hiccups with our boats (one would not start and the other would not fill gas), the staff brought us another boat and accomodated the situation by allowing extra time on the water. We appreciated the flexibility and overall had a wonderful experience!
Scout, Theresa, Desiree, Marc,Tragan, Melissa, Rachata at the Lodge Restaurant, Precious at the Lodge, Kelley, Sailor were ALL so professional, courteous and friendly. All are such hard workers.
Our trip was cut short due to a death in the family, but fabulous, we will be back.
House boats are fun, bull frog feels like they never clean out for spiders, I went 3 times and rented a house boat 2x and both times they had a huge amount of spiders, just scarlet spiders so nothing dangerous but still nuts that no one cleans the boats thoroughly
Beautiful place with amazing views. Rented a houseboat for a week. Boat wasn't really cleaned well and one of our barely worked at all. Wonderful experience tho. The customer service was very bad. While checking out a lady with short hair behind the counter blatantly ignored me for about 5 min, until a white gentleman walked into the office. After asking for help, she responded very rudely that no one was available. But Seth was the MAN! The most helpful of the staff! Helped us pack our jeep in 100° heat! Shout to Seth. Great vacation tho.
The pros: The service was wonderful, we were out of hand soap, shampoo and shower gel and they ran it all up to us right away. There was always someone available at the front desk whether in person or by phone. The view was spectacular, easily the best we've ever had at any hotel we've stayed at. For the most part, it was really quiet too. There was an ice machine that had plenty of ice and the tap water as well as the ice tasted really good! I'm a big water nerd so it's a big deal when the water tastes good ha ha
The cons: the bathroom had hair on the shower wall like someone had just shaved, on the door, on the wall.. it made me wonder if it'd been cleaned at all. The a/c stayed on the entire time (except when the power went out.. I'll talk about that in a minute) but the room never felt cool. We even kept the curtains closed in case that was heating it up.. but it seemed like the only area that was cool was directly next to the a/c unit. It was hard to sleep because of the heat and the constant noise of the a/c. It almost seemed like there was a semi parked next to us, running, all night. I use ear plugs too, it still was too loud. And then the next day- the power went out. We figured they'd get it sorted though so we didn't worry too much. An hour and a half to 2 hours later, the power went back on and then about 30 minutes later it went out again. It took another 30 for it to go back on again and then it went out again maybe 5 minutes later. By the final time we decided to just check out early. It was hard enough to sleep in the barely cooled room the night before and we didn't want to chance another night of lost sleep with the power OUT????All in all, We're still glad we went. Gorgeous view, fairly close to Hobie Cat Beach and the Corner Store.. just some stuff that made us not as thrilled to return. We'll probably stay in Hanksville at the Whispering Sands the next time. Oh well, ya can't win 'em all.
