I was there for the bingo on Thursday nights. The atmosphere is very pleasant...the bar is very fresh and inviting and CLEAN. The staff seem to enjoy their jobs and like being there. I will be brave someday and try one of their burgers with peanut butter. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled wonderful!
Food service was extremely slow. Our food took over 30 minutes. Waitress never said a peep about it taking forever. Turkey Hoagie I ordered had the smallest portion of turkey I've ever seen at a restaurant. My wife ordered a Reuben sandwich without sauerkraut and they messed that up. My sons mini corn dogs were good. 3 simple meals. We wouldn't go back.
This place is great, the atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. The food is delicious, heck they have a touchtunes which is blasting out great music. The appetizer of my recommendation is the nachos, my entree of choice is the cat fish po'boy, and my soup of choice is the lobster bisque. There is other great food, but those are my favorites. Other than that the servers are friendly, the counters are clean, and the alcohol is cold.
I was hoping for a lot better. They must wash their floors with maple syrup because your feet stick to the floor as you walk around. You have to get your own water and soda refills from a dispensing machine (Fast food style). I ordered the Stiffler burger and they forgot to add the ham and fried egg, twice! They did take that off our bill though. The food was "meh" my wife's and my burgers were dry and overcooked. The dining area is very large but with small tables. It seems line they could make better use of the space. There are hard surfaces on the floors and ceiling so it echoes so badly that there's no hope for a conversation. There was nice outside seating though, however, people are always going in and out of the door to get their own drink. I'm glad we tried it, the service was friendly, but we likely won't be going back.
This same location has had many owners in my experience here, and these folks are the first to truly consider their customers, and the things they might suggest to make it a better experience. Their other outstanding location, but different concept, The Brookside Bar and Grill in Marine, is exceptional on all fronts. The "Pub" location, just up the road, is in it's infancy, and is constantly making improvements based on customer feedback. The new conceptual food items for this location, compared with Marine, have been outstanding for me and my friends. The subs are delicious, and the rotisserie chicken is amazing! You can take one home for only ten bucks! So, while they may be working out some new-business kinks, the product being put forth is outstanding, as is the employee-owned work ethic to do nothing but improve, and serve the customer with the goal of utmost satisfaction! If passing by, it would be worth the stop.
Wanted to like it but did not expect to hate it as we did.
Service was slow and lackadaisical. Food burgers and salad here horrible. Rotisserie chicken from grocery store better and cheaper. Manager sat at bar and ignored the business part of being a manager. Almost felt sorry for waitress who had to comp most of our meal but she acted like she had phoned it in for a while.
Sad that another resteraunt in this location can't make an enjoyable meal.
Food at the Brookside Marine is just hit or miss but this one is just flat out bad.
I have never felt more obligated to write a review about our restaurant experience until today after coming to the Scandia location with my family. It was a Sunday at 3pm and not busy at all.
First thing I had asked our waitress (who was also the bartender) was for a high chair to which she pointed to a stack of them and said "over there". Okay, no problem, I'll get it myself.
Then we ordered. While waiting for our food, my husband had to go to the bar and get his own drink.
I ordered the chicken/bacon hoagie. The bread was so hard and chicken and cheese dry and burnt like it had sat under a food warmer for a very long time. I told our waitress I was not going to pay for it and handed it back. No offer for another sandwich or anything. My husband's chicken wings were like chewing on a raw hide from the pet store though he was too kind to not say anything.
It was as though our presence was a huge inconvenience.
We thought maybe the service and food was terrible because she was the only server and bartender... no. On our way out, she was having a smoke with the cooks out by the dumpsters. Maybe the Marine on SC location is better? But in no way would I recommend the Scandia location. You couldn't pay me to return there.
What an amazing place! Love the food. Menu options were great. Prices were even better! The staff was so friendly.y daughter was having a meltdown and Mandy came over and turned her tears into a smile. Can’t wait to come back.
