I went here 6 years... long waits like most Drs, but an actual Dr shared information about this place, no names, not good.. He was awesome and Katie lovely, however management changed hands several years back, I know people that go here, because they live here, unfortunately there's more going on... behind the scenes.... I want to go back, I was a good patient, never rude, on time, but wow the way I was treated, by some would be professionals was shocking.. I have to travel to Whangarei to see a Dr all because management didn't like me approaching an MP... because of my rights been trampled on.
There's good and bad everywhere, even Drs, or Managers, but I had no right been told I can't come back to a place I was at 6 years, I left as went to the free GP at Ngatiwhai which is awesome.. I went to re enroll at Marsden medical centre but told, no you can't come back, when asked why, management told me, no, because I saw 3 different Drs in 3 years, um, yes, cause Drs leave, no guantee u can see ur GP at all when fully booked out, and also used things like I saw other Drs in the practice.. that's a patients rights.. no I am a person that if an injustice happens to me or anyone else unfairly treated, I stand up, make noise, and people don't like it... there were some great Drs in there, since left, was a high turn over of nurses, and staff too... I need somewhere closer, but the management said no.
I saw something in local paper from management saying anyone who is abusive will be de enrolled.
Fair enough too, no excuse for abuse.... but to not be abusive at all, I can't come back, I did nothing wrong, nothing... so I have to travel a huge distance, I can't afford petrol all time, so I don't go to Drs hardly at all now.. the free Drs at Ngatiwhai.. well the GP there, who's lovely told me her books are closed, that's why I needed to go back where I was as I have serious illness that need constant monitoring, well not now sadly.
It's a big practice.. lots of GPs but many don't stay long, there are 4 I know that are still there... I loved going here, convinient and more... but Management have the right to refuse, but my patients rights I didn't get... how is that fair.. oh I have some stories of mine, and heard terrible stories too.. but the place is clean, lots of receptionist.. good seating, Drs rooms are nice and comfortable.. always busy, so phone ahead of time, about 2 weeks, even 3 as it gets busier....
Just joined up & had my first appointment today with the nurse. Everyone I dealt with was so lovely there. They went out of their way to make me feel welcome & explained everything so thoroughly. I'm so glad that I made the switch & would recommend them to anyone thinking of joining ????
Superb service. I'm extremely impressed with the daily phone calls to monitor my progress with Covid. With the number of cases the practice must be handling this must mean a huge number of calls to patients each day but the doctors have never indicate they are in a hurry to end the call.
Visited last Thursday, Dr Karin was wonderful. Was there again today as I needed to change my details as they don't match my vaccine pass. The receptionist was not that friendly or helpful. Would have given a 5 if it wasn't for the receptionist
I have recently moved to the area and needed to find a local GP.
My overall experience with Bream Bay Medical Centre was pretty poor.
My initial call to the Medical Centre to inquire how enrol with the centre was met with a rather unhelpful receptionist, I was told I would need to enrol before being able to make an appointment.
I finished early one day to get to the medical centre before closing, to complete the enrolment forms arriving at about 4:30pm only to find that the doors were locked from the outside(very frustrating). I managed to get in as another patient left.
I did finally manage to enrol with the practice however when I tried to book an appointment soon realised that despite being open until 5pm as advertised the latest booking I could make was 4:30pm which was unpractical for me working in Whangärei and informed the receptionist of this and that it was probably better for me to find a GP in town, i again found them rather unaccommodating.
I was later called by one of the centre’s Nurses who was unaware of the earlier conversation, this was the only positive conversation I had with the practice. She was very helpful and agreed with my decision to find a GP in town and even recommended one to me, she also made it clear if I needed any further assistance to just get in touch.
After finally enrolling with a GP in town I received a call from Bream Bay Medical Centre. This was the icing on the cake. It was pitched as a courtesy call to say that my records had been forwarded on as requested, It quickly became clear that the call was to tell me off for wasting her time and how much work was involved in enrolling. Her parting shot was that I would never be able to come back to Bream Bay Medical Centre. I don’t think that will be a problem.
I have read the other reviews posted here and they all appear to have the same theme, there was a comment that the doctors are fantastic if you can get past the receptionist. I will have to take their word for that!!
Very poor customer service at times depending on the staff of course.
Very rude, felt unwelcome and had been a patient for approx. 3 years previously.
I have heaps of medical conditions and a very easy patient for a practice to make money from. My appointments are every 3 months with same script...
No offer to enrol me, too busy.
Maybe its because I'm a younger male and the practice is full of middle aged woman.
My experience tells me these people have no formal training in customer service or "sales" and no one complains if they get treated poorly...except for the wise people using google who took the time out of their day to say something :)
I had an appointment which I rang the day before to make it hoping that I could get in that day, but it was no surprise if I couldn't knowing they are usually busy. So I had an appointment the following day. I was 10 minutes late to my appointment due to road works along my journey from Waipu to Ruakaka as not being too well I forgot that they were doing road repairs. On my arrival I apologized for my lateness due to road works, however the young receptionist mentioned I could possibly not be seen by my doctor as he was fully booked for the day and they are only 15 minute appointments, but I will text him to ask? His reply was no he was fully booked. I was not happy and still feeling unwell. I have never been turned away from the doctors had having an appointment. Maybe the Medical Centre shall show on display that this can happen,
Am a local to the area. Find the receptionists very rude. Called today and cancelled an appointment as i was waiting on an orthapedics appt that went over the time it was supposed to. Called med center and was spoken to very rudely by receptionist, this is not the first time!!! I once didnt cancel an appt and got a warning letter, so youre damned if you do, and damned if you dont. Quite pissed off at thier lack of customer service. My gp there is fantastic but not that fantastic to have to deal with these receptionists regularly!!!
