Best WLM Reviews
Best mom and pop old school breakfast place, unbelievably good one would think grandma is cooking again! Try the chili and cheese omelette and add shaved steak it’s unbelievable!! Keep these people in business they deserve it!!!
We didn’t even get to eat! We were sat right away but then completely ignored. She didn’t even offer to start us off with drinks or anything. Another couple came in, was sat and they took their order right away at the table beside us. Now granted, they knew what they wanted and were probably regulars, but we were literally at the table right beside them and she didn’t even look at us. We waited a good 5-10 minutes more and no one came over so we left. Can’t even blame it on being too busy. That’s just bad customer service.
This was such a cute place, the food was good, and our waitress was very nice, however, it really put us off that they would not serve us water with our meals unless we paid for it, the bathroom was out of order, and we ordered the biscuits and gravy and were informed that they only had enough for a half order which we agreed to get . Foolishly, we assumed that would mean half the price of the full order- especially since it was a supply issue and not a choice. When I asked why we were charged $7.95 for half of an $8.95 order they couldn’t fill, the waitress politely informed us that is just the way it was. I guess when you are a breakfast restaurant in the middle of nowhere are you really don’t have to compete with too many other businesses. I don’t write reviews often but I really did not feel like a valued customer in this place.
Cute place, had high hopes. Food came out quickly but is, at best, simply ok...except for the egg salad which was awful. The large Pancakes are huge which may be the draw. Through no fault of their own, they were understaffed and the waitress was extremely busy as it's a very popular local place.
I hadn't been to The Breakfast Nook in years, and it was time to rectify that. I decided on 2 Eggs, 2 Bacon, 2 sausage, 2 regular pancakes, home fries with onions, and an everything bagel instead of toast, all crowned with a piping hot cup of Chai.
The eggs, bacon, sausage - all were competently prepared. Bacon was as crisp as I like it, eggs were runny as requested, and as a whole, this core of the meal was perfectly average. No disappointment, no wonder - just good.
Same goes for the bagel. It is a basic bagel. It isn't a thick-o New York bagel, nor is it undersized. It reminded me of a bagel from the supermarket.
The tea was a bit on the weak side. Served in a metal pot, the water was hot enough to properly brew tea, but there is far too much water for a single tea bag to infuse properly. Unless it is a specialty, I've yet to find a restaurant that manages to get tea right.
Now.
The pancakes.
This is where it is at. Thick, fluffy, almost cake like. I got one with chocolate chips and the other with peanut butter chips. They were perfect. Right now? Breakfast Nook has the best pancakes I have ever had from a restaurant.
The service was friendly and attentive, and the decor/ambiance was what you'd expect - clean and well kept, yet ultimately unremarkable. Despite the pedestrian surroundings and average Breakfast, Breakfast Nook delivers the very best pancakes.
Highest recommendations but gorgeous. Cozy place to have breakfast or lunch by yourself or with your friends in loved ones. The staff is incredibly nice. The prices are excellent. The food is delicious
Just so we're clear, this isn't biscuits and gravy. Somehow, this traditionally southern breakfast got a South American twist and the results, horrid. My wife ordered waffles with strawberries. Ok waffle but the strawberries were still half frozen. The waitress was pleasant and apologized that we weren't happy with our breakfast yet offered no discount.
As far as the decor and atmosphere, this Bellingham breakfast place doesn’t go out of it’s way to set itself apart. Being an established favorite with locals, this greasy spoon always has a steady flow even in the face of COVID. The entire staff is laid back, unpretentious, and friendly and they seem to understand the delicate balance between being attentive and being obnoxious. The food is well prepared and they haven’t missed a single of the special requests I always have. An excellent local gem!
