We waited in an empty restaurant for 15 min just to be greeted at our table. Another 20 min passed before we got our drinks and then food came about 10 min later. We were missing several food items when it arrived.
We had to find our waitress hanging with coworkers in order to get refills. The toast that was forgotten came out black. The whole experience took about 90 min in an absolutely empty restaurant. It was empty when we arrived and when we left, now I know why.
Update: We went today with our son for lunch. This was the first time we've gone to Bob Evans for lunch and we were not disappointed. Food was excellent! Service by Julia was outstanding! 10 out of 10. Hi and see for yourself! ****My wife and I visited the Bob Evans Restaurant on El Jobean this morning. First time there. We were very pleased with the location and with the cleanliness and layout of the building. It was easy to find parking and easy to walk in and be seated. Once in, we were greeted by one of the staff and led to a table and asked if we wanted something to drink. We opted for coffee. The wait person gave us a menu before going to get our coffees. We were excited about the menu options and the prices. There was a great variety at a very reasonable cost. When they came back with our coffee, I ordered the Big Egg Breakfast, which was 3 eggs, I opted for sausage patties as did my wife, who ordered a stack of 4 buttermilk pancakes. We did not wait long at all and the food came out hot and well prepared. My wife raved about the pancakes and my meal was outstanding as well. Both of us really enjoyed our meal and the friendliness of the staff. We definitely will be back again soon! If you are in the area and are looking for a SOLID place to have a good meal at a reasonable price, I would recommend that you check out Bob Evans! You will not be disappointed!
Update: My wife and I went to the Bob Evans at 1050 El Jobean Rd, Port Charlotte, for Dinner tonight and we were very pleased. When we arrived we were seated and given menus and asked if we wanted any drinks. Our server, Julia, was friendly and attentive and allowed us time to make up our minds after she brought our drinks. I noticed that there were more people coming in, but the place was quiet and spacious. It was clean and bright and there were no smells to detract. The decor was obviously mid-America and with Bon Evans hailing from Ohio, it made the state proud.
Our food arrived not long after we ordered and it was fantastic. I ordered the Cod with Coleslaw and Corn and my wife ordered the Chicken and biscuits. By the way, my wife LOVES the biscuits! Julia brought 2 complementary biscuits to both of us and they were indeed tasty.
This was the first time we were there for dinner. The other 2 times we were there were for breakfast and lunch. All 3 times the food was consistently good and the service was excellent.
One Note. Our server was Julia and when I went up to pay, I left a healthy tip and asked for a receipt. However, when I got the receipt home and looked at it, it said that our server was Paul. I am not sure if the tip was credited to the right server. I will ask the next time I I am there. It just placed a question mark on the evening. It does not detract from the food nor the service.

This review is only for Bob Evans by the PC mall. I had the new fish fry. Fish was burnt on the outside uncooked in the middle but somehow fries were overdone. I sent it back and got a hamburger with fries. Bland, warm but not hot, fries better but still over done. The waitress was pleasant and accommodating but was busy. Really disappointed because Bob Evans is usually a very consistent American home food kind of place. Recommend Bob Evans by Knight's Inn because never had a bad dinner at that location. FYI Dinner bell plates are smaller dinner portions at reasonable prices. Includes entree, two sides and bread too from $8.99 and up.
My friend was served a ham omelet when he specifically ordered a steak tip omelet. He addressed to the waitress he CAN NOT have pork. Yet was served it. The waitress never came back to apologize nor took it off our Bill. Keep in mind she never came back to check in on us. Will not be going back to this location.
The service at all the Bob Evans I have been to seems to be declining. The food was ok but not great, I had a Western Omelet with hash browns. The portions were smaller than I remembered. Going to a mom and pop diner is such a better option in price, quantity and quality. Will I go again, yeah if I can't find a regular diner and a Bob Evans is available. Mediocre is the best description.
Extremely disappointed at my first visit to this location. I verbally made the host who was seating people aware that I wanted to order breakfast for my family to go… So she sat the person who came after me and she said she would be right with me after she seated the one man. When she came back a few minutes later, she ignored me and saw someone she knew that arrived after me and decided to see them. NOT very good at Custer service from my perspective and will NOT get any future business from me.
