Best WLM Reviews
What a cool little gem! Right next to the library, sharing a building. Restaurant has an Aussie inclined menu with plenty of delicious and healthy selections to enjoy. We came in for breakfast on a weekday and it was full yet they sat us almost immediately.
Decor is modern but inviting, clean and crisp yet not sterile looking. There are smoothies and pancakes and your usual egg standards, but the house dishes are the best! Hubbie had a chili eggs dish and the sauce was smoky and tasted developed without being too spicy. Fantastic flavor. I had a healthy egg and kale bowl, my daughter a compact yet filling stack of fluffy lemon ricotta pancakes and my little one had regular old eggs and bacon and every single thing was cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. Pricing is more than fair for high quality and freshness of ingredients.
We also tried the banana bread and fairly bread for dessert. My girls were very excited to try some of the famous Aussie fairy bread from the show Bluey lol! It did not disappoint! There was a young woman serving all the tables, she had an excellent attitude and was prompt and friendly even though the place was fully sat and busy. Would come back any other day happily for more.
We spent our Saturday afternoon reading books and relaxing at the West End Library. Afterward, we visited a popular Australian-inspired coffee shop in the same building that offers healthier food and coffee options. We enjoyed a delicious break with a Beet latte, banana nut bread, zucchini bread, and an Aussie iced coffee. The coffee shop has big windows that make the space bright and comfortable, perfect for enjoying this beautiful afternoon.
Had an amazing breakfast experience. The Chilli Avocado Scramble was delicious, and the latte was spot on. The Belgian waffle was a perfect sweet touch. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Highly recommend!
The coffee was good. No complaints.
The service time was abysmal. We waited 50 minutes just for an avocado toast. When we tried to cancel after 40 minutes, we were told we couldn't because we ordered through an app and would have to call customer service..
The service was wonderful. Our waiter tatiana was so attentive and accommodating. I had a great experience at this restaurant! And the coffee art was definitely one of the best that I've seen it
Frustrating Visit at Bluestone Lane West End.
I visited Bluestone Lane today with high hopes for a relaxing afternoon with a good coffee, but unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired.
Here's what went wrong:
Slow Service: It took a very long time to get any attention from the staff at the register. There weren't that many customers at the time, so the slowness was quite surprising.
Inattentive Staff: Even after we flagged someone down, it seemed like our order wasn't a priority. There were mistakes made with our drinks, and it took even longer to get them corrected.
Lack of Communication: Throughout the entire visit, there was very little communication from the staff. We weren't informed about the wait time or the mistakes with the order.
Because of the slow and inattentive service, what should have been a pleasant experience turned frustrating. Hopefully, the management can improve their service to match the prices of their food.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this cafe unless you have a lot of extra time and patience.
Dined at Bluestone Lane West End Cafe for breakfast, March 17th, 2024. We'll start with the bad first. Not a good first experience, service took 45 min. We ordered the lemon Pancakes and the chimichurri eggs. Once it finally arrived both dishes were ice cold and flavorless. The lemon pankcake curd was gritty and tasted horribly processed. I held back and didn't ask to remove it off of the check. It was simply not good. Overall, these two menu items were not good, would remove off the menu. We ate half the food and decided to stay hungry instead.
Part of the problem is that they were serving to go orders at the counter and dine in, which makes the process take that much longer. Total cost $55 for bad pancakes, eggs and a piece of toast.
The good... the Cappuccino, once it finally arrived, was well made... but let's face it, million coffee stops in DC, and the waitress and staff were ftiendly. This location should be a hard pass for anyone reading the reviews.
The ambiance was delightful - a perfect blend of modern chic and cozy charm. It was an ideal spot to catch up with friends, have a moment of relaxation, or simply enjoy some "me time" with a book and a delightful treat.
What truly set this coffee shop apart was the exceptional service. The staff (Ashley, Mya, and Danielle) was warm, friendly, and attentive, made sure me and my co-workers felt appreciated and taken care of. They were knowledgeable about their products and offered great recommendations to suit individual preferences. It’s also nice that there is plenty of seating, even in a lunch rush!
