We live in Saugatuck, and the first time for breakfast. It was rainy day on Saturday morning, place was busy and had to wait for a while. The food was a great and friendly service. But I wish it had more tables so we don't have to wait. Because we were very hungry ????.
Where do I even begin? First of all this is a quaint and adorable little cafe, that offer really tasty breakfast. My parents and I stopped in on our way out of town and the service was so warm and welcoming!! The food was so delicious! Very classic breakfast but just done so well!!
Then we add the fact that the humans there truly reminded me that there are wonderful people in the world who do selfless good acts still. I left my purse at this cafe and proceeded to drive 4 hours home without even noticing. When I finally did you can image my panic! I called the cafe and the owner had found my purse and offered to run to the post office to ship it back!!! I offered her money out of my wallet to pay her for this incredible favor or at least for the shipping and she refused. She understood what it was like to lose such a valuable thing and decided to pay it forward out of the goodness in her heart. I will never forget it. Thank you!
This is an absolute must for a solid comfort food breakfast spot. The biscuits and gravy were some of the best we’ve had in Michigan and the breakfast sandwich and omelette were fantastic. It gives off a “hole in the wall” vibe but that won’t matter when you taste the food. Anytime we are in Saugatuck we stop in for breakfast. Consistently delicious and friendly customer service.
Very enjoyable little place. We have different past it for years and never thought to try it.
Both indoor and outdoor seating, a wide menu, and breakfast is served all day. Excellent wait staff, reasonable prices
What a great neighborhood gem. You can't go wrong with anything you order, but do say room for dessert. They have a wonderful menu and always have breakfast available. The staff is wonderful. Highly recommend.
Quintessential diner. One of the few breakfast places open on a Monday morning in the area. Lots of locals eat here and it’s clear why. Good food, big portions, great service, reasonably priced with throwback decor. Only 4 booths, 4 tables & 4 stools at the counter but we got seated right away. Plenty of patio seating outside on nice days. Would definitely return here.
Food was delicious. The place was small and cute, very busy on a late summer morning. We didn't have a wait at 10:45 a.m. but it looked like one started shortly after we got there. Our waitress was wonderful and got us started on drinks right away. She took our order and put it in but we had to wait about 30 minutes for our food. Not sure if that was because they were busy or what. There were only three of us, so it isn't like we were a huge party.
Once the food finally arrived it was hot and tasty and everyone got just what they ordered. I particularly loved that they served real shredded hash brown potatoes (where I live in New York, has browns are fried cubed potatoes, which are called home fries here). My husband ordered the home fries and said they were good but wished they'd included green peppers and onions like they serve back East. Well, I told him, that's what they do out here in the land of the Pop (not soda, lol).
The moral of the story is the Blue Star Cafe will serve up a tasty, inexpensive breakfast that's worth the wait. Try it!
Perfect lunch on a rainy Tuesday. No outdoor seating due to the thunderstorm but we were sat nearly immediately inside. They were pretty busy but we felt taken care of. The Gyro Nick and Detroiter Burger were both great, but my favorite was the spanakopita. It's probably the best I've ever had. Baklava was good too! This place is definitely worth trying for breakfast or lunch if you're in town.
