First time visitor and I’ll be back. It wasn’t crowded and the beer was cold. The steak was nicely cooked and the waitress was a hoot.
I'm a foodie/gourmet person who also cares about ingredients , sustainability and supporting family owned business. We ate for the first time yesterday to explore the place.
I was blown away by the quality, taste, ingredients used and outstanding service !!
Although we just tried couple of items , we are certainly going to stop by more often. I would love to see more vegetarian options so I can bring my family members as well.
Top notch friendly service giving a homey feel. Awesome fries, nice sized southwestern salad made of mixed greens not iceberg. Would have liked a little more corn and beans. Catfish was not exactly done throughout, but the breading was tasty. Probably frozen product. Atmosphere classic family style setting. Not fancy but one of the better places in that area.
Chef Shawn might be the local legend in culinary respect but he shouldn’t try to redefine “flash fried” when it comes to oysters. The slaw was good, maybe a tad sweet. The fries were cook as they should have been. The oysters were simply over cooked, dried up and tiny. The waitress was great and apologetic for the length of time it took but the parking lot was full when I stopped so I guess they were busy.
I noticed this place was packed on my way to the airport so decided to stop for dinner on the way back. I had the meatloaf, was tasty but had a weird texture almost mushy. My wife had the mediterranean chicken that she said was good.
The biggest problem I have with this restaurant was the fly issues. Lots of flys inside and seen a few fruit flys too. We were constantly fanning the flys away from our food. ???? one would have to imagine these flies, are in the kitchen prep area also.
I said something to our server and she just shrugged it off and agreed that they were bad.
Blue Ridge is a local eatery and has been for some time, although not necessarily our favorite. My daughter and I decided to stop in for lunch and ordered their liver and onions. Now, I know this is not for everyone, but I grew up eating it and my family the same. Today's fare though...not the best. The liver was sliced very thin, fried until very dry and tough. The onions were very soft, almost "squishy" and all topped with lots of bacon bits. We also ordered the green beans as our side and even though the beans had a nice flavor, again, smothered with bacon bits. The shining end to it all? I had 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce (very thinly drizzled) and my daughter had their berry topped cheese cake. They did keep the soft drinks coming which helped wash it all down. It's all up to you. Nice local atmosphere.
Waitress was slow to our table. Ordered the meatloaf which tasted okay but was cold inside. Seems they make it ahead of time, chill then microwave it before serving.
I've had better meatloaf.
We had a baby shower here in their banquet room which was a catered meal with a light meal fare. The staff, especially, Sue saw to all our needs. We had family and friends gather and a great time was enjoyed by all.
I highly recommend The Blue Ridge Cafe to anyone who would like to plan a special event.
