They towed my car. The tow truck operator made a bad mistake. It resulted in my car coming loose from the winch cable and the car incurred over $5k in damages. This was not a difficult tow job. The tow operator simply hooked the cable to my car in a place he never should have. What’s worse is they would not give me my car unless I paid them. I forget the amount. It was not a lot of money. The next day the owner calls me and after refusing to refund me, he tells me they will fix the damage in 2 days. Nonsense! I brought the car to a reputable body shop and had it fixed. It took a couple of weeks to do it right.
I am been using Billy's for about three years now. I have six cars and I use several automotive service stations. I have found Billy's to be one of my favorite. They are honest, quick to make repairs, and fairly priced. I waited this long to write a review because I wanted to be sure they were consistent, and they have yet to let me down in my three years and all of my visits. 5 stars!
Quick story: I had a major issue with my Cadillac; what I believe to be out of the realm of a local service station. I told Billy's I was having it towed from there station to the dealership, "Billy's" said, Tell them, ...and then he proceeded to give me "the code", and his diagnosis. (They didn't have to do that ...) I said, "Never mind, you guys do the work." 2 years later it is still running awesome.
I was transporting my boat on a trailer from NY to CT and the brakes weren't releasing fully causing an overheating issue.
I pulled into Billy's and got a warm welcome. They quickly pulled a wheel off, diagnosed the issue, and had me on my way back home quickly.
Highly recommend these guys if you are in the area. They knew I was from our of town and likely would never be back, yet took care of me lickety split. And the charge was very fair.
Highly impressed.
My car was left on their lot over the weekend and I got billed $50 for it.
Emergency situation. My car was towed there on Friday night by AAA and later picked up by my trusted mechanic on Monday morning. I called on Saturday to let them know that the car would be picked on Monday and not to spend any time on diagnostics. I find out later that they passed on a charge (to my mechanic) of $47 for 1/2 hour diagnostics. When I called to question the bill, the manager said they were told to look at it. You know where this is going, right? He also added that I was fortunate that he did not charge me a storage rate of $65 per day and that he could have charged me $130 for two days. $65 per day?!?! Heck, I can park the car in a midtown Manhattan parking garage for $30 per day. This place is in Brewster!!
I checked reviews of this place online before I called my mechanic to pick it up and saw a few poor ratings. You can add this one to that one star pile.
I got a flat on i-84; couldn't get the flat off (rusted in place?). Called for a tow... Manny was fast, professional, and saved me a ton of money. He popped the flat off and got my spare on. It would have been really easy for him to charge me for the tow and let the tire shop deal with it, but he helped me out instead.
I experienced car troubles halfway on a long drive right near Billy’s. Very friendly, took us right away despite being full. Didn’t have part I needed but called 4 nearby places with no luck. While I can’t speak to quality of repairs, he went out of his way to help us, knowing we would not be repeat customers.
This might be the first time I brought my car into a shop and the check engine light came on afterwards. I had gone to a different dealer and they did a full inspection of my car after aligning and balancing my wheels and an oil change. The ONLY issue they found was that might right wheel bearing needed to be replaced as the back of the car was making a louder sound.
I went into Billy's a week later (because they were cheaper) to get the right wheel bearing replaced and after I got the car back, the car was louder than ever. All of the sudden my left wheel bearing supposedly had an issue as well despite another dealer saying it was in great condition. Two days after leaving the shop, my check engine light has been on and despite a few calls to the dealer, no logical explanation has been explained and overall service was awful. I guess you get what you pay for here - strongly recommend going anywhere else, even if more expensive.
Terrible experience with this place!!! AAA towed my car here on a Weds afternoon when the timing belt broke; I live on Long Island. I reached out to the shop on Thurs and mechanic said the engine was "Screwed, Valves bent, pistons shot" and that I would have to replace the engine; After he located an engine, he told me cost to install w/ labor would be at or about $4300.00
Long story short I transported car back to my mechanic on Long Island; He replaced timing belt and a couple of tensioner pulleys to the tune of $1300.00 (Much to my relief!!!)
