Best WLM Reviews

Listen, I drive OTR, and I was in Springfield Illinois at a stop. Told the guys I was stopping for lunch, and they asked if I was going to get lunch in Taylorville, I said yeah. They told me to try this place called Bill's Toasty. They hyped this place up for having phenomenal burgers. Mannnnnnnn, they weren't lying!! Nicole(????) took my order and was SUPER friendly and helpful. She even took a few pics for me.
Moving on, my burgers came out, and I almost bit my tongue they WERE SOOOOOOO GOOD!!! I knew when she went in that little cooler and tossed 2 balls of ground beef on the grill, I was in for a treat. And I wasn't disappointed. The burger literally melted in my mouth. Ground beef is already tender, but how the hell do you tenderize hamburger meat even more!!?? Phenomenal!!!
In closing, please go see the crew over at Bill's Toasty Shop in Taylorville. Give Nicole a big ol "Big Ben" hug from St. Louis and tell her I sent ya! Cheers!
It’s been 25+ years since I’ve been to Bill’s which is a must stop if you go to T-ville. 1 precious lady working the lunch shift and even turned down help from a voice in the back room.
I ordered a dbl cheeseburger because of the value after seeing it’s only $1 or so more from the single. This burger had to be 1 lb with 2 patties. I had to eat one patty by itself because I couldn’t get the sandwich in my mouth.
I had the best cheeseburger and hashbrowns!! Worth the travel to Taylorville.
I was in town for work and after looking up local lunch spots I decided to give it a shot based on the reviews. I was greeted by Nicole and upon her recommendation I got the grilled cheese chili hamburger horseshoe. I have never tried a horseshoe before and I was not disappointed! Great flavor and a large portion size too. The service was fantastic and super friendly too. I actually thought Nicole might be the owner at first since she represented the business so well! Definitely will be back next time I’m in town.
Everybody says “great drunk food”. Agreed. BUT it’s more than that. You CAN get that- greasy, cheap, fast, and filling- perfect great “drunk” food lol. What we got though was great quality, great service, pleasant plating, plentiful servings good pricing and overall just a great experience. Highly recommended and will be back. Great job ladies!
Absolutely Phenomenal Breakfast Horshoe. Never had one of these but now I'm a believer.
Absolutely delicious and yummy cheesy goodness.
Can't recommend this place enough WILL be recommending this place to anyone I come across.
Will definitely be eating here on a regular basis.
Eat here you won't regret it.
Also recommend eating here on an empty stomach.
Went during off-peak lunch time around 2 p.m. plenty of seats. You can sit at the counter and watch them cook right in front of you. The food was great, not overly pricey for today's standard. Two of us eating with side dishes of cheese cubes and mushrooms main dishes and drinks around $28.. not bad for good tasting food. Kept asking myself why I hadn't tried this place before. Elderly people with walkers or Canes be careful of the step up at the curb. And wheelchairs and scooters the closest ramps are at the corner of the streets. They are a 24 hours place and serve breakfast all day long. I highly recommend you give this hometown shop a try.
We ate at Bill's for the first time because I saw the good reviews. This is not a fancy, yuppy, uptown place to eat. Understand that. It is a tiny diner that will transport you back 100 years to small town America. But I'm telling you, if you don't care about atmosphere, and just want a damned good cheeseburger cooked on a grill in front of you for a cheap price, or a luscious milkshake made out of real ice cream, hand dipped and put in a stainless steel cup to eat with a spoon, and just a simple conversation with the workers behind the counter and a friendly, "have a wonderful day!" as you walk out the door, this is your place. They are friendly and just want to cook you good, diner food just the way you want it right in front of you. Nothing fancy, just good. You won't leave hungry or unhappy. There's no vegan menu or cocktails...go elsewhere. It's the same as it was 90 years ago when it opened. It's open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week no matter what. The cheeseburger was the best I've had in years. I'm vegan, but just had to have a good ole burger. They are huge, so I would suggest the small or regular size unless you're a football player with a huge appetite. They also serve breakfast all day. I didn't have the omelette, but watched one being made and it looked fabulous. Go here if you are in town and just want good old fashioned diner food. There are very few seats, so don't go during the lunch rush or you might have to get it to go or eat at one of the picnic tables outside. To find it, plug in the police station...it is next door. It is off the square.
